I'm not strictly new to bikes, but I'm new to something more complex than a CBF125.
Picked up this 2007 Fazer 600 from a properly franchised dealership a few weeks ago - full service and three month warranty on purchase. Today I noticed this - it seems to be coming from where the clutch cable meets with the engine casing.
Is this some kind of lubricant for the clutch cable? Should be alarmed by the fact it's dripping out like this? It's a very thick texture, and it was at ambient temperature even when I'd just got off the bike.
I haven't exactly been abusing the bike either (like redlining, bad gear changes
Posting from my phone, dunno why the image rotated like that
It lool like copper antiseize

this.
must be a replacement clutch cable and they lubricated it with an anti-seize compound. Usually cables are lubricated with some of that specific "cable lube" that's sticky and wont leak out under heat cycling.

Anything to be concerned about at all? The bike did have 42k miles on it, so I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced the cable

I've been working on bikes for months, not years. I've never had to lubricate cables in cars but they're almost always internal. I'm not sure what the correct procedure or correct stuff is to use. Since you bought it from a dealer, I assume that shit works because it wouldn't be "its my first day" type thing if you know what I mean.
If you're anal about it, remove the cable, run some sort of solvent/cleaner and re-lube it with a specific type of cable lube. pic related.

Your cable fluid is leaking. A quick fix is to squirt some toothpaste into the clutch cable sheath. This will seal any leaks in the sheath and lube your cable at the same time. Hope this helps!

seems to be a bit thick for that, and the appearance matches what other folk have said. Is it a leak, or is there a chance they just went a bit apeshit and put too much in?
What's my worst case scenario if it is a cable leak? I need my bike to make a 40 mile trip tomorrow to my GFs, there is fortunately a motorcycle specialist garage within a short distance of hers - am I going to die horribly ?

Its a cable, it doesn't "leak" - its just a normal wire
Most likely its just something they've put on as antiseize, and it has gotten flung from the linkage ontop of the clutch and gathered near the hose
Clean it up with degreaser, and see if it comes back or not
A better lubricant for linkages such as those is motorcycle chain lubricant
It's literally just copper grease, antiseize, nothing at all to worry about
