It takes me a couple hours to fully clean the truck with a power washer. I wet it down, soap it with whatever i have in the garage, scrub it with a longass brush, rinse it off, wipe the mirrors and windows with a dry cloth. Kerosene is for oil and tar haulers.

There are quite a few skills to learn to do this job successfully.

It is not "simple" to back a 53' trailer, it takes practice like learning any other skill

It is not simple to successfully navigate 2000 miles cross country and through heavy traffic, construction, detours, scales, rush hours in major cities, etc.

You depend on GPS alone and you will end up somewhere you can't get out of. Trucking is not like walking, there are a shit ton of things you have to learn to be successful in this job.

In any event 1099 work isn't worth it at any wages that would be considered normal. You need to form your own business, have the pay go to the business and then you pay yourself wages from the business or you get socked with 15 percent Self Employment tax on top of Income Tax. Oh and you have to make Estimated Quarterly Payments to the IRS. You can't just pay it all on April 15 without risking penalties.

First is that when you cut back it's not so that you're reducing my stopping distance. Like say we're coming up on a traffic light that's red and you cut back into my lane making me have to stop sooner than planned.

The other is if you approach such that I can't see you (you can't see my mirrors, I can't see you) and you pop out at the last second I may have already been in the fuel for several seconds to go for a pass and have to abruptly cancel because you just popped out with speed on me. Assuming I see you at that point at all that is.

The Coca Cola plant down here, a couple years ago they went from salary and commission to straight hourly around $20/hr. All of their drivers loved it at first because they were workin em like crazy at 60+ hours a week and they thought they were going to bank. Then they hired a bunch more drivers so when they had long days and were hitting 35hrs by Wednesday, they would give them a hot shot on Thursday and tell them to stay home Friday so they don't make shit for OT.

I rarely have problems except for today when this otaku-looking fat fucker in a Marten truck who was doing 61 sped up to 65 on me while I was halfway past him. Oklahoma law says it is illegal to impede the left lane so I had to back down like a bitch and the dump trucks behind him wouldn't let me in either.

It's okay though, I dropped him up the hill on 35 and since we can coast to 77 and I had 45K in the box I put him way behind me at the bottom of the hill and rode down with some sand haulers. Most of those mega-carriers don't let their drivers coast more than like 67mph and some 65 but Prime will let you go literally as fast as you want for 30 sec., I almost hit 85 on the Three Sisters and got cold feet and backed it down to 75, bad thing is bull haulers were still pulling away from me lol

On the coasts I do 60mph, just set the cruise I don't have to worry about anyone at all, let them fuckers fly past me

579s are 80" but it's really only like 74" with a bigger bottom bed, and I believe the eco49 is 49" hence the name. But like I said, it's not really that much less space if you utilize it well. Plus, it's not 2¢, it's 5¢, which is on top of a 4¢ raise from where I am now, plus the eco truck makes getting fuel bonuses easier, all the way up to 8¢ although I doubt I can hit that, I can probably get 2 or 3.
