Would a rear engine car be effective for rallycross? There's no cheap AWD cars in my area and I don't want another FWD car.

Have fun steering.

It could be, if you can manage to keep the damn thing under control.

But wouldn't having the weight over the drive wheels be better for traction?

Yes, and the lighter front would make for very direct turn-in, but it'll be quite unpredictable once you lose grip.
Which will happen in rallycross.

The little polski fiat that could
don't fall for the rwd rally meme

Porsches and VWs have been rallied and rallycrossed since the dawn of time, so, in short, yes.
>effective

i'm addicted

fuck yeah
have fun, but don't kill yourself, op
In RWD I can't go as fast as I safely can like AWD.
Top speed in RWD for me is like 50 on the trails compared to 70-80 on the trails on a dry day

FWD is the best thing for rallycross. Ever go to a rallycross event? Dodge neons will dominate over AWF Subarus.
Any cheap AWD cars with less than 4 doors?
I can't find any in my area besides maybe the Audi TT.
