Tesla seats don't even feel that great. They're wanna be sporty seats that are more like economy airline seats.

What suprised me most is the model X is a six figure car, yet the back seats have zero features. No screens, no climate controls, seat backs are hard plastic with no pockets. You get a vent that's it.
>>
>>17626722
Think about it. With driver assist, or self autonomous mode, whatever you prefer to call it, this could literally be the office on wheels where you don't even have to drive. You can take a trip anywhere you want and do work at the same time in one sitting. Quite the business trip.

The mid row was alright. But just awkward because you're just sitting there with nothing. Not even an armrest. The rear windows don't roll down all the way! Really felt like being in a concept car that wasn't ready for production.

The windshield was amazing I'll give it that. The column stocks are weird, they don't have enough tactile feedback, it's not a lever like usual stocks, more like a paddle that returns to the same position. but I'm guessing 99% will simply get used to this as they own the car I don't understand why they advertise these things as muh future yet do not put in a HUD. It's distracting using the screen and takes away from the driving experience. They want fuck huge windows, use them.

If you don't look at the dash board, it's a fairly nice, minimalist interior with decent, but cheap seats not meant to be sporty.
The door panels are a nice design that blows the e60's out of the water.
The pedals look extremely cheap and trashy, the dash is terribly bad and disgusting and the wheel is piggu futoi.

>Does this look a $35,000 interior to y/o/u guys?
No one is going to buy the $35,000 version. And the ones being made now are not the $35K but the $44K versions for better PR value due to the better description.

Everyone will want to upgrade the interior, but the next package for the Model 3 $35K car is a $5000 upgrade package. SO it is basically $40K or suffer. And it makes no sense to get a tesla EV without any of the automated driving features such as parking, stay in lane, automated cruise control and that is another $5000. And if you want to future proof that software with software updates, you have to add another $3000 to the price at purchase time. Or you can pay a zillion dollars later.

By the way, the $35K car only comes in black. So if you want any other color, you are buying options packages. Remember that some option packages require you to buy other prior option packages first.
>>
>>17626834
>With driver assist, or self autonomous mode, whatever you prefer to call it
That is NOT the $35K car. You have to buy options packages to get those features. I don't know about the subscription fees.

Looking at a picture and sitting in one are 2 completely different experiences.

I recommend everyone at least try getting your buns in one, it's quite the experience. I'm not sure who else has such an advanced control interface like Tesla's, but it's quite amazing.

On the Model X SUV, you can lower and raise the car's suspension through the touch screen. It even has a "jack" feature to raise the car up for maintenance without any tools.

Not a shill, I just had stock in Tesla ;)

>>
>>17629178
Uh, yea actually. Elon repeatedly talks about autopilot being the future so the car really is for the driver who doesn't want to drive.

That's what /o/ doesn't understand. It's not supposed to be a driver's car. In fact it's the exact opposite.
>>
>>17629932
that's not to say Tesla won't also make driver's cars. The roadster 2 will be pretty neat
>>
>>17629935
Right. Elon is basically seperating the types of cars because his margins are smaller and he can't afford to create 3 different SUVs.

>Model X is SUV because SUVs are popular items
>>
>>17629759

>>
>>17626659
No shit it doesn't look like a 35K interior.

Batteries aren't cheap.
Neither are the engines that go in it.
Tesla has to earn back the costs it made in R&D.
Probably mark it up a little in the process.
Now where's the money for the interior and other gimmicks?

I prefer ICE to electric too, doesn't mean I actively ignore all logic in arguing about it.
Right now, for an electric car that can drive this far, that's a very decent price.

leaf would be DD and it suits my needs perfectly, also have a diesel truck and if I really have to go somewhere far and that's once in a year I can borrow car from my parents.

I know leaf is considered piece of shit in the states but it drives really nice and pulls strong compared to average diesel shitboxes we have here.

no, I don't think we did get used to it. We have to look at the phone for significantly more time to accomplish things than we used to have to with buttons and keyboards like that. the extra display space is worth it, since it's a phone, but the ability to juggle other tasks has diminished in the full display phone world. And driving is another task that requires a lot more attention than sitting at a desk or jerking off.

In that sense It is the antithesis of /o/.

A lot of people also take their cars to the track here. Teslas are slow and don't handle well. They're not built for performance, and car guys like performance

>Implying you have the capability to diagnose and solve an electronic problem on a modern, ICE-powered car anyway

Seriously, there is no difference with a normal car except for the lack of an engine. Every modern car is a computer on wheels just like a Tesla.
If your HVAC knob suddenly stops working, you can do jack shit unless you have a proper diagnostic tool and a workshop manual available, because guess what, the HVAC has its own control module and it has to talk with at least 3 more control modules and a dozen sensors all around the car. And this shit happens with pretty much anything else, from window switches to fuel pumps.

You are talking like a true busrider that never even tried to loosen up a screw on a car made in the last decade.

If you want to go for the "but muh engine upgrades" then fine, but don't pretend modern cars aren't drowning in electronics just as much as a Tesla does.

And how much would that cost?

What if it breaks while driving? Do you lost all the car informations?

It's such an impractical design. What was wrong with dials and buttons?
>>
>>17637924
dials and buttons are more expensive, less reliable, and have less "options". For instance, let's say that your car has a three buttons to control the heat zones. feet/body/both. In a buttonless car, you can potentially get an update to add more "buttons" for the heat, allowing more control, whereas a fixed physical UI doesn't allow for that sort of upgrading.

It seems to me that people are only drawn to assuming that it will be unreliable since it's floating. The attachment point on the back is really beefy though. It'll be fine imo

Just wait till the government starts taxing the shit out of you to make up the lost revenue. California is already starting with a $100 fee for electrics on registration
>>
>>17638135
some of the taxes make "sense" in the sense that they're the sorta-equivalent of an ICE-related tax. for instance, some states have taxes on gasoline to pay for road maintenance. Thus the more you drive, the more you wear down the road, and the more taxes you "pay" through buying gasoline. EVs can't be taxed that way, so some states are just having a flat fee or something.

the better method would to have someone check your EV odometer once every couple years and tax you off of it. But what if you do your driving out of state? it's all very complicated

>>17638364
>>17638390
The touch screen in my 2004 Honda Odyssey still works after a quarter million miles without any issue. The same can not be said for the physical A/C and heating knob.
>>
>>17638410
the thing is, I would rather have taxes for stuff come from the people who use the stuff. So something like an mileage tax on EVs to pay for road maintenance is better I think than a general tax increase. Just my 2 cents.
>>
>>17638433
they won't tax EVs. they'll just raise taxes on gas cars to look progressive
>>
>>17638410
a knob or button is cheap as hell to replace and can easily be done at home, a touch screen is at least $1000 + labor, and that fuckhueg TV inside the tesla is probably $5000
>>
>>17638433
If the taxes were actually going to pay for roads it would be one thing, but just about every single tax is going into the "General fund" whether they actually disclose that or not since it's all about pensions. In my county here in Norcal road quality is pretty bad as a baseline, the only roads that get repair or maintenance are those in particularly wealthy areas or when major through-fairs are literally impassible.

>>17638442
California is "progressive" in name only. Among a long list of stories, back in the day there was a big dispute with Chevron in the central valley. See the farmers own the land but Chevron owns the mineral rights. The farmers were accusing Chevron of not doing their due diligence and allowing ground water and the soil itself to be contaminated.

In response the state of California had 2 petrochemical engineers start investigating and were determined that Chevron was directly negligent. In turn, Jerry Brown fired them both so and I quote "Chevron can make more money". This is a verbatim quote as well. California's need to tax the shit out of everything and everyone will override any hint of this state being "Progressive"

>>17638455
The buttons and knobs themselves are cheap but the internal mechanism aren't necessarily easy or cheap to service or replace, depends on the car. My experience is anecdotal obviously but a 24" or so touch screen is not going to cost $5000, that's juts hyperbolic. If it breaks or needs repair you have the stand which mounts to the dash, the screen itself + housing and the connecting wires.

In defense of Tesla, it's probably a hell of a lot cheaper to put everything on that one touch screen then try to design either bespoke trim or fit existing pars into the dash. Also while despised by a lot of posters here, there's a certain crowd that will be drawn to the Model 3 specifically for the minimalist design.
>>
the more you look at the 3, the more cost-saving measures stand out, not that that's bad. For instance, the screen setup means that manufacturing RHD TM3s will be much simplified compared to other cars where there has to be a mirrored-everything. On the 3 they just mirror the stuff on the screen in software - that's it. Same with the AC. nothing is different between the left and right AC components

Here on /o/ a lot of the users are devoid of the ability to think critically. Here are their arguments in greentext and then I'll provide a retort that is impossible to argue.

>Tesla Model S only has 260 miles of range and takes hours to charge
So you're driving a $70,000 car so you're obviously making good money. You drive your car the 20 miles to work, work, drive it back and then plug it in every few days. It's not like you're a pauper who has to drive everywhere, the company will take care of all of your flight fees.

>only geared to go to 60mph quickly
Speed limits in the USA don't go much higher than 75mph, so there's no point in this.

>bad build quality
Compared to what? A Porsche or Toyota that has decades of experience behind it and has been using roughly the same technology for the past 30 years? And what do these people mean by bad build quality? The majority of the issues with the Tesla are software related, which is why they have the ability to update. Eventually the car's software will evolve to become perfect.

>not user serviceable
It's a battery pack and an electric motor. Unless you have the ability to wind an electric motor or the knowledge to handle hundreds or thousands of amps from the big battery, there's no point in arguing this either. It's like trying to say that the DCT in a Ferrari isn't user serviceable because it's too complicated.

A lot of the Tesla hate is just poor bastards who are envious that they can't ride the electric wave.

You're all so fucking stupid, every day your stupidity gets worse. The car is made to eventually be autonomous, fully. As of now that hardware isn't available for the 3, but it will be. Dont expect Tesla to be around in 20 years either

Funny because there's videos of people's model s's taking very long drives all autonomously right to their destination, driver didn't have to touch the wheel once. Tesla is making more progress in their autonomous technology than any progress that will be done in your pathetic life.

not to mention that current AP is only using something like 3/8 cameras and 4/12 ultrasonic sensors. They're being very methodical with what software they push to cars; everything gets used in ghost mode beforehand. The internal advanced AP builds are much more advanced, but not ready for the average Joe just yet

Tesla isn't shit in the autonomous world
They are irrelevant
Google and amd are the kings

I can tell you have no clue what you're talking about since you referenced the Harry Potter AP incident.

I want you to try rethink your interpretation of that map. Instead of saying "look at all these chargers!" you should instead be thinking: "only one charger station every XXX miles?" Additionally just how "fast" is charging going to be when you have to wait in line to charge your tesla like some retarded throwback to the OPEC oil embargo in the 70's?

Oh boy way to throw your credibility out

My interpretation isn't "look at all these chargers!" It's "look at how this stupid fuck thinks you can only travel through california because he can't be assed to check a fact in his fucking life". Of course the charger network still needs work, which is why they're still rolling it out. Look at how much of that is in development. Next year there will be even more.

When you wonder why Tesla has bloated stock, try and make a trip in an electric car that doesn't have supercharging. Fast charging infrastructure is the bottleneck that only one manufacturer has a real plan for.

>you cant check your phone while driving, but heres a huge fucking television screen

to be devil's advocate, there's a difference between a screen that can be seen out of your peripheral and looking into your lap at a small screen.

okey, maybe a bit longer. you get 300km for every 40 min or so. Speedier superchargers are coming soon apparently
