Yesterday you guys helped me figure out a car I saw on the street.
An E20 1973 Toyota Corolla SR5 coupe was the closest I could get to the exact version of the car. It's the coupe version with the square headlights, not the rectangular ones.
I want one. Do I have to go to Japan or some shit to get one? I can't find any of craiglist on the entire west coast.

fucking hell. Square TAILIGHTS not headlights.

I don't understand your post.
>>17619216
That's a TE27 coupe
TE21

E30 Corolla
I hate to tell you m8 but pre-75 corollas are insanely rare at this point, japanese cars of that era were prone to rusting like fuck and most people liked to just destroy them and call it a day since boomers don't care about shitty 70s cars they care about american muscle and all
it is 100% possible that may be one of a few left in america period
OK i figured out the exact car. It's a Te51.

Hate break it to ya, buddy, but you're not going to find anything like that in japan. The Japanese have insanely strick laws regarding emissions, and general rule of thumb is once a car reaches 50,000 miles, it is scrapped/recycled/taken off of the road in some fashion or another. Your will not find any old cars in japan, with the exception of in a museum.
Also, many Japanese cars were built 'for export only'
But yeah, best bet for finding one is on craigslist if you are lucky, or in some guys barn/field. Just as >>17619823 said, japan cars caught the rust plauge... they didn't have the resources or the luxury of making cars with 10 inch thick doors that weighed 100 lbs each. All of the older, pre 100 toyota were lightweight, cheap, and not designed to be used decades later. Tissue paper thin sheet metal rusts out pretty bad within a few years...
Sorry for the bad news

To give you an idea what we mean OP, take a look at how much a good 70s Corolla goes for.

That's honestly not too bad.
Do you guys know if the E51 (My pic in the OP) is more rare than the link here?
Wow an /o/ thread with actual helpful and insightful posters.
but yeah OP they are right, these cars are not dime a dozen anymore
the 79 Celica is the pinnacle that you can get in the US and they are rare as well.
