I find it ridiculous that hot rods cost more in 2017 than the cars they were trying to copy in the 1950s.

"The term hot rod became popular in the 1940s. But the first examples—called gow jobs or soup-ups—were built during the Depression by young enthusiasts, usually with little or no money, who were eager to tinker with what then was still a novel piece of machinery."

anyways nice thread
The original bodies are approaching a century old so of course they're expensive. Reproduction bodies are trade marked by the original brand so they get a cut for doing nothing. Then since you don't know anything about cars you have to pay someone to put it together and paint it. And Because it's a one off unique car, not mass produced it's more expensive than your shitbox.

Rice boxes are the new hot rods.

Why is it more expensive than the genuine sports cars of the 40's and 50's that young people actually wanted but couldn't afford though?
>>17611498
Because modern hot rods outperform anything from the 50's
>>17611498
Because it turns out hotrods are even cooler than the cars they originally wanted.
