You can buy a car from NI and register it in the south but you have to pay VRT and VAT if it's under 6 months old or has done less than 6k km. The mk1 Swift Sport isn't too common here in NI but I do see a lot more mk2s. A valet parker took my Swift Sport in Dublin and the weird keyless start really confused him.
