Hi guys, I want to make a carbon fibre bonnet/hood for my automobile. Anyone here with experience of making carbon parts DIY?

just get one from ebay, I am sure you don't have a massive pressure oven to cook it

Would be using vacuum bags rather than an autoclave.
Fibreglass is probably going to be cheaper and easier. What car?
No one's dabbled with this?

Land Rover Defender, for the lulz, epic weight-saving and more importanty potential to sell some carbon parts.

vaccum is alright but still won't reach the rigidity that a cooked piece will get

you should see if you can outsource the cooking process, I assume there must be los of places in the uk that produce carbon fiber parts

Would be trying to keep costs down to a minimum (within reason) but appreciate what you're saying about using an autoclave. Honestly just throwing ideas about at the moment and need to do my market research.

Actually made me reconsider looking into fiberglass instead.
