Why isn't Honda making a performance version of the Fit like Ford has the Fiesta ST?
I mean Honda sells around 50k(sometimes even more) Fits every year and a performance version could pave the way for more buyers.
They don't want to undercut sales of the Civic Si. If Honda were to put the 1.5T into a Fit, it would be objectively better in every way than the Civic, since it would be lighter and have way more practical cargo space.

Why not just use a low pressure turbo version like VAG used to do with their 1.8T?
I've been asking that for years.
The serious lack of power in the Fit is what is driving me to buy a different car.
don't worry, 2018 will have a sports trim with a sweet spoiler and some sick rims
Just drove a 1.5T civic, shit has low end torque like a truck, compared the the weak ass high revving typical hondo engine. I like them. ~150 ft lbs under 2.5k rpm is pretty sweet.

Honda wants you to spend more money.

The US only gets the "performance" version of the fit. In Japan the base fit comes with a 1.3L and the fit RS features the 1.5 we know well.

>A Sport trim Civic Hatchback is only $1500 less than a base Si sedan in Canada.
>turbo engine in sedan only available with CVT and only on second mouse expensive trim
Absolute fucking jewelry in leafistan for the Civic
Tbh the market would be so small.
Frankly you'd be better off turboing a fit for self for 3/5 grand

This is almost assuredly the reason and it pisses me off so fucking much.
Like, if that's the case, then why the fuck did you make the Civic so fucking big and fat in the first place, Honda?

Oh man, that would be hot hatch of the decade material and I don't even like Honda

No way dude. The Fit is actually so much fun to drive on non-highway roads. I think if they gave it a nice electric motor as well as true VTEC engine, it would be such a good car. You could have the instant torque and city practicality of a hybrid as well as the highway revs once the system gets you to 5k. Hondafags would buy the fuck out of that car, JDM-fags would buy tf out of that car, poorfag nissanfags would buy tf out of the car, hell I'd buy the fuck out of that car.

Because then a $500 tune would come out a week after launch to bump the power back up.
k20a swapped fit is so much fun

Best Motoring/Hot Version always has episodes featuring tuned Honda Fits against Suzuki Swifts.
The Fit is great car on paper too:
> less weight than an EK9
> shorter length and wheelbase than an EK9
> engine makes less power, but you can tune it
> you won't die in a crash given additional safety features (not that you'd care)
> MacPhersons, but Honda knows how to make an amazing handling car regardless
It occupies the subcompact segment that the Civic had before it moved up a class. I don't get why everyone complains that the new Civic is pigfat - just buy a Fit instead.
