ITT: dumbest ways you've ever spent $400
>go down to drive to field meeting
>drove the classic today
>key in, turn to start, zero motion
>no solenoid click, no crank
>fug
>get ride from coworker who wanted to tag along anyway, later get car towed back to apartment after hitting shit with a wrench for 30 minutes after shift ended
>nothing seems to work
>have great fuel pressure at rail
>no spark
>read forums, suspect TDC sensor, which is conveniently mounted on bell housing
>can't use ramps because can't drive car up onto ramps because it doesn't run
>drive dadmobile to Harbor Freight and buy jack and stands
>learn how to put a car on stands from the internet, still sketchy as fuck
>unscrew crank sensor
>trace wiring
>it's fucking unplugged
>plug it back in
>car fires up and runs better than it ever has
>clean contacts, zip tie connector together because the wire clip tab is sheared off
>car is WAY better to drive than ever
>driving on highway
>*ping*
>stray pebble cracks windscreen

Fucking hilarious.
Mum's car had its airbag/seatbelt light on for a whole year, three mechanics couldn't figure it out. Fourth one found a plug under the drivers seat loosened.

The hell do you drive that costs 500 for a windshield?! My last one was 320 and I was pissed!

On the bright side you now have a set of jackstands and know how to use them in the future.
>dumbest ways you've ever spent $400
bought a car with out direct injection

I had been putting it off for a while. It's still super fucking sketchy though. Harbor freight to the rescue.
Now the car dies when I hit a bump and when I tap the main relay with a screwdriver handle hard enough... I feel like a relay shouldn't do that.

I have an older car and I think the weather stripping costs more than a windshield lel
either way both are special order

>Get my first car

>Replace wheel bearing ($150 part fuck you Acura)
>Noise still there, turns out to be cupped tires from worn 25 year old shocks.
