what's the best, most fun to drive car for daily driving?

>pic related
my personal choice

I have one, and no its not any fun
>steering has no feel
>pedals have no feel
>can't do hektic skids
>rev hang
>shitty infotainment system
>hvac controls suck ass too
>steering wheel sucks
>>

Great car. Pitty the drivers give it such a bad rep and make it easy to shit on..
>>
>>17561872
>Most fun
>awd

uh ok?

>Current gen WRX

You're joking right? I mean, it's a good performer but its so far from the most "fun" that it's pretty much an econobox in feel.
>>
Civic hatchback was the other car I had in mine, what do you guys think?

>>17561907
ikr, it's like only shitskins buy them, it's still a great car though
>>
>>17561923

this
>>
>>17561872
I really love mine. It doesn't get absolute ass gas mileage like the sti but its still very capable
>rev hang
you can literally tune this away. If you're getting one of these you can immediately just get a cobb tuner ez
>>
>>17561927
Sister has one and that thing is great. Awesome with a manual
>>
>>17561900
Get what you are saying. I have one and love it but its so effortless to drive it kind of looses its feel in some ways.
Beating $100,000 cars on a bend trying to get arround me never gets old though and taking it on the windy roads and thrashing the fuck out of it is satisfying

Just found this gem
What the fuck is wrong with STI """"Drivers""""
>>
>>17562074
they're fucking retarded

I see tons of WRX STI's with more than 100k and these fags want 17k+ and they're beat to shit and have mods and crap

Just Craigslist "cobb" and see what comes back
>>
>>17561900
>steering has no feel
it's responsive enough considering it's proper AWD rather than a direct steering RWD car, have you driven any other AWD cars?
>pedals have no feel
clutch has a decent grab, could be alot worse
>can't do hektic skids
don't know why you'd want to do hektic skids in an AWD sedan
>rev hang
can be removed with tune. When i testdrove new WRX i didn't notice it, maybe because i'm not launching the shit out of it or redlining
>shitty infotainment system
what makes it shitty to you, for me it had little input lag, but had some nice features
>hvac controls suck ass too
do you not know how it works? it's been same since 2005, the dial adjustments are fine
>steering wheel sucks
absolutely the steering wheel is dildos, bunch of buttons forced is no bueno
>>
Its the best sub 30k brand new AWD turbo manual you'll find.
>>
>>17562079
>110k on body
>3k on 4th engine

Every fucking time
>>
>>17561900
gonna have to agree with most of it other than last 3, but i am comparing it to my awful ford interior

stock wrx vs a stock st the st wins for fun levels. my friend dd's a slightly modded wrx with exhaust, tune and some other minor things. the exhaust makes it feel nice, but the controls are just so dead still. it's a good platform with lots of grip, and one of the few awd turbo options, but imo it's not too fun compared to brz, fist, fost, fors, miata, 124

It's just a riced sedan from the factory. The STI is literally AIDS ( a different type of sti). What is it with all of these new factory riced cars? From all manufactures...

>it's responsive enough
I'm not talking about response, I'm talking about the ability to feel the traction of the front wheels through the steering rack
>clutch has a decent grab, could be alot worse
the clutch is what ever, but I'm used to drive by throttle which feels like pushing on more than a little spring
>can be removed with tune. When i testdrove new WRX i didn't notice it, maybe because i'm not launching the shit out of it or redlining
I bout the car for the factory warranty and I'm not going to mess with that, when I test drove the car I thought my stick shift ability was just rusty, it wasn't until later that I realized what was happening
>what makes it shitty to you
I have to take my eyes off the road to use it
>do you not know how it works?
I know how it works but the dials have no fixed positions, and the detents are weak, so just like the stereo you have to take your eyes off the road to use it, on top of that if you turn the dial far enough it automatically turns on the AC, and there is no position on the dial for the front vents, there is a separate button, but that cranks the fan all the way up by default.
>absolutely the steering wheel is dildos, bunch of buttons forced is no bueno
Finally something we can agree on, you cant even wrap your hands around it at 9 and 3 since the spokes are so thick

I bought an '18 WRX, and couldn't be happier. The '18 fixes a lot of small things, and really sharpens the front end.

>>17561900
>steering has no feel
It doesn't have tremendous feel, but if held firmly you can feel imperfections in the road. I agree mostly, though. The '18 has fixed this a lot, though.
>pedals have no feel
I don't understand this one much. Break pedal is great, and very easily transmits feel and fade. Clutch was fine in the 15-17, but was revised in 18 for a MUCH better feel. Gas pedal is standard DBW.
>can't do hektic skids
You can if there's low traction. Then you get do hektik ass four wheel skidz
>rev hang
Easily overcome and mildly inconvenient at best.
>shitty infotainment system
Horrific.
>hvac controls suck ass too
I have no earthly idea what you're on about here. Climate control works wonderfully.
>steering wheel sucks
It's an amazing wheel. I really don't get this one the most. Very well sized diameter, flat bottom, wonderful thumb wrests/grips/whatever, perfect roundness, and easily unobtrusive buttons. ('18 used real leather, which feels soft, supple, and much more premium).

Overall, I personally thoroughly enjoy my WRX. Don't let the entirely cancerous following deter you from at least a test drive. Not without flaws, but they're wonderful machines.
>>
>>17562221
>Easily overcome and mildly inconvenient at best

how do you fix the rev hang?
>>
>>17562221

Uh I dunno man I think they've had leather on the steering wheel for a long while now - they certainly do on my 2017 at least.

This has been relisted over and over for months. They wanted 40k originally for a car that MSRPs at what, 30k max? Blows my mind. The dealership is sketchy as fuck too

Fiat 500 is pretty fun. The "500" stands for the 500 different ways you feel like you're about to die at any given moment while driving it.
>>
>>17562351
Haven't looked at the newest gen WRXs, but if I had to guess probably some clean emissions system turning on at throttle close.

>>17562221
Don't let the cancer get to you. I've had my 08 since new and it's amazing how capable it still is. Albeit after much modification. Have fun with it.
>>
>>17562115
Its because the WRX's limits are so high, unless you're driving 8/10ths it's not going to feel that fun.

I'd still personally buy a Focus/Fiesta ST because its that much cheaper...but I own a WRX Wagon right now and will probably keep it for a long time unless it gets totaled out.

>>17562079
just that guy is when you can find running and driving 04-07 STis that aren't totaled out (often clean title) for $10-14k

shit i bet a crashed one from copart would run closer to half what he wants

The new 2018 wrx doesn't have Rev hang. They fixed it when they made the transmission more dd-able

The last great Civic.
>>
>>17562757
This is so true, the car is only fun when you are going balls to the wall in it, which is way over the speed limit 100% of the time.

I've had mine for 6 months and can honestly say it is not a "sports" car at all.

It has many good points, and is a pretty comfy DD that is quick, but a very numb feeling car with a fucking annoying clutch and gear box (I will admit the 18 fixed that a lot)

I kind of wish I had gone BRZ, but the practicality of that car is just too weak
