Microfiber cloths are the worst baby boomer trend. They're a terry cloth with downs sytndrome. They have fuckall absorbancy, they're shit for getting anything off other than wax buffing, they leave just as much lint as an old sock with a hole in the heel, they bunch up on glass when folded into quarters, they streak 9 times more than paper towels on glass, they're expensive compared to terry cloth,

Microfiber cloths are fucking bullshit!

Microfiber is great but someone inevitably will put them in the dryer and ruin them.

I'll have to check this out too.

I agree with op, I've had so much shitty luck with microfiber towels.

The best ones I have are the ones that come with the Meguires Ultimate Wax, I bought a few expensive Simoniz ones before thinking they'd be good, but they are fucking garbage. Lint everywhere and tags you can't remove without cutting and leaving some behind, or ripping the cloth. At least the Meguires ones were smart and even said to remove the tag first.

I just can't find where to buy them alone locally.
>>
>>17557918

Don't run them in the washer unless you want to get wax residue on your next load. Just hand wash them.
>>
>>17557918
I wash and dry mine and they're fine. OP is just a faggot who bought cheap ones.
Do the load with just the microfibers and use a little corner of a dryer sheet in the dryer on gentle and they come out just fine and static free.

I only do this 4-5 times before I retire them though
>>

Also for anyone with a costco membership- the ones they sell in bulk there are actually really good

I always wash my car with paper towels, they're free. Just go to a coffee shop or college bathroom with a backpack on, crank open the dispenser with some pliers, and take the giant roll out. There must be a mile of paper towel on those rolls.

Always wash and dry in a circular motion too, it helps wick away the water more evenly to prevent spotting.

Hard water is the best, as the mineral content act like microscopic scrubbers to help remove dirty and grime.

I could but I would just as soon move to the U.S. permanently. Hopefully Papa Trump will allow me to live in the Fatherland.

>then throw them in the dryer.
Dryers have a nearly no heat tumble dry. Polyamide is sensitive to heat, so you can't use much heat on them. From testing, the "lingerie" or "panty" setting works on my microfiber towels I buy from costco and sam's club. They come out very fluffy and absorbent. They clean well and don't seem to have grit on them.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I do not mix microfibers from different tasks. They can be cross contaminated by MF you used for gritty purposes. Wash them separately. Dry them separately. Remember that microfiber can have sharp gritty particles get tangled into the polymer threads. Those particles are then there "forever" or until those threads break and release the particle.

>What are some brands you'd recommend anon?
Good and cheap ones are at the warehouse shopping clubs. Sam's Club as those packs of 36 for $14.
>>
>>17561010
>also $5 roasted chickens
Costco actually loses about $88M (eighty eight million usa dollars 2016) per year on those chickens. They are a loss leader to get people to come visit the warehouse. While you can resist temptation, many people once they enter the warehouse, will buy lots of other stuff.
>>
>>17561965
Not to mention every deli department is in the back of the store, so it forces members to go all the way to the back and then make their way upfront. More opportunity sales.
>>
>>17560954
So you do a cost-benefit analysis. How much would I save vs how much does the membership cost?

Detailer here, a fresh and dry microfiber is great for buffing stuff off or getting streaks off the paint and windows after you've already cleaned but using them for washing the car? They are fuckin terrible just like OP says. I cannot believe that so many youtube tutorials suggest to use them for everything.

You can't even wash them without somehow fucking them up too. I guess you can air dry, but at my place we literally just throw them away and use brand new ones as soon as the old ones need to be washed cause it's just not worth the time and effort. Worst meme in the auto detailing world.
>>
>>17562332
So much bullshit in one post
>>
>>17562332
There's of course different towels you can get that are better but a cheap terry towel is always better than a cheap microfiber. We just get the cheapo ones in huge bundles and just use them like disposables like I mentioned. Im not sure how economic that is cause I don't own the place so it's not my problem.

>>
>>17562372

I work at 644 in AZ. We usually are top in the state, but the Scottsdale store does ridiculous sales during the holidays. Rich dudes will come down and buy 4 barrels of the Jack Daniels. Giving them like a $12k in the span of 5 minutes. Their productivity is insane.
>>
>>17562416
Ah, I'm at 388 in IL.
We're usually somewhere near the top in the mw region. Don't really know why, I have a better experience shopping at other warehouses.
