What one is the best?
anyone here who's actually driven all of these and able to tell from experience?
Thinking of buying one and not sure what one to get.

I test drove a 944, the owner was really anal about it and didn't like a kid looking at his car, but he let me drive it around town before making a decision. At 55km/h it handles very well, and the gearbox was smooth as butter. It really felt like Porsche quality, at a bargain price.

I never got that 944, it's rotting in someone else's yard right now.
>>
>>17555120
944 turbo or 928 s4 are the best out of the ones you listed. Lower trims are shit.
>>
>>17555165
whats wrong with the 968? i was hoping for some information on all these
>>
>>17555139
was he one of those
>i know what i've got
people?
>>
>>17555309
Pretty much exactly the stereotype.
He kept bitching about how close I was to the curb, the yellow line, etc.

Owned a 944 S with a s2 swapped engine/trans and a 928 S4. Loved both, the 928 sounded great and pulled hard but there was something about the 944 that was more enjoyable to me. Also the 928 was expensive, gas, insurance (ehh that wasn't too bad, not nearly as bad as my speed3.), parts. Don't listen to faggots that meme that 944 parts are expensive and take special tools. They really aren't and really don't. The 928 on the other hand was a bit expensive for parts. 968s are ridiculously rare but cool as fuck, I have a feeling it'd be the happy medium between the two. 924s are worthless with van engines powering them.
>>
>>17555120
The 944 and 928 are the "best" that you listed, because the 968 is a piece of shit 4 cylinder 928. And the 924 is just a worse 944.
But the 928 and the 944 are entirely different cars, they're incomparable.
If you want a sports car, the 944 wins, if you want a GT the 928 wins.
Both will be headaches to own though with hard to trouble shoot issues springing up.

>tfw you will NEVER be able to afford a 928 GTS
Why live?
>>
>>17555500
>t. Someone that read the wikis
968 is a 4 cylinder shit version of the 928...get out summer child. The 944 is actually that, the engine in a 944 S and S2 is literally the 928 engine cut in half not to mention the interiors being nearly exactly the same. The 968 is badass, there's a reason it is valued over boxsters and even 996 911s. Stick to riding the bus instead of spewing shit out when someone asks specifically for people with real experience.
>>
>>17555522
Except I have a 928 and my neighbor has a 968.
The 968 is valuable because of how poorly it sold, not because it's a good car.
A 928 doesn't drive like a sports car, a 944 does.
That's like saying the e36 and 38 are the same cars because the interiors were "the same"

just get a mazda fc

it's unironically more reliable and has better aftermarket
>>
>>17555500
A few years back a co-worker of mine was unloading a 944 Turbo in great shape with reasonable miles for $6K - still don't know why I didn't pull the trigger. Probably would have regretted it on the maintenance front but damn they are cool.
>>
>>17555500
so theres nothing reedeeming about the 968?
>>
>>17555518

just did a search on ebay. holy fuck! why are they so expensive?
>>
>>17555656
i want a Porsche
and i don't want a 911.
>>
>>17555522
please tell me more about the 968, 968 and 944 are my two main cars im looking at, the 968's look to have a higher starting price but dont need as much work. that and the 968 looks to be harder to find without paying $200-$400 to have it shipped to me. then again what is $400 if you're buying this kinda car anyways.
>>
So far based on
>>17555522
>>17555487
it looks to me like the 968 is the best
guess ill just have to get one shipped to me when that time comes.
>>
>>17555487
and i forgot to thank you anon for knowing what you're talking about.
>>
>>17555696
It's a cool car, and you're more likely to find one in better shape than a 928 due to better build quality.
But I prefer the 928 experience over the 968 experience.
As far as I'm concerned the 968 is just the 944 face lift applied to the 928, with a motor downgrade.

and before you say they are ugly, with a gt3 kit they look fantastic
>>
>>17555120
968 is the best sports car
928 is the best GT
944 is the best budget car

924 evolved into the 944 which evolved into the 968. Each was an improvement over the last. The 944 is a seriously sweet car, have been fortunate enough to drive one. 968 I haven't but have spoken to enough people about it

928 is a different line of cars, it's a GT, not sports.
>>
>>17556416
if i was going to get a boxster why stop there? ill just get a 911 at the point.
>>
>>17557180
what have people told you about the 968?
>>
>>17558282
50k price difference.
>>
>>17558313
No? 996s go for 15k in decent shape.

I like having people like you around it devalues the Porsche's with water cooling making them easier to buy.
they phased out air cooling for a reason.
