Hey /o/ I just bought a car wiyh a boost gauge. Not too familiar with it, but I don't think it's reading right.
When i'm at idle it's at 15psi and then slowly goes down to 12psi, very slowly. When I start driving it stays at about 12psi and slowly drops and slowly goes back up completely randomly and independently of my throttle inputs.
I can hear the turbo spooling, and the car feels like it has good power, but Idk if I'm supposed to have more or not since I just got it. Any ideas?

Sheiiitttt nigga, that makes much more sense.
It said psi, so I didn't think further beyond that

It's probably connected to the wrong line, if I had to guess. Sounds like it's connected to a vacuum line. Trace the cord and make sure it's where it needs to be
Sorry to interject but why would you buy someone else's turbo project? You'll no doubt need to clean up all the stuff the previous owner skipped, like clutch, brakes, cooling, ecu, etc etc

Clutch is new and everything looks good to me. Even has a shut off switch to let the turbo cool down after the car is off. Looks like things were done right and not skimped on.

a turbo timer may well be an indication of the opposite. Most modern turbo cars don't need them and its a pretty basic JDMtite mod for ricers

Not likely, absolute pressure gauges are far more expensive and delicate than standard ones.

mechanical boost gauge? i heard those are likely to failure compared to electric ones.

It's a 2002

The gauge is a glowshift digital boost gauge.
I guess my next step is to trace the hose and see where it is coming from.

Dont be stupid
