Driving at the same speed on the same road, why is fuel consumption higher with cruise control than when operating the pedal on my own?
Got my first car the other day and just realised it today.

Must set to "Econo"

Because most shitboxes are too aggressive on the throttle maintaining the speed you set.
Driving with constant power uses more fuel than accelerating for a time and rolling.

This. The cruise control in my honda allows it to wander a few mph up and down on hills to save fuel. but only if i bother to put it in eco mode.
Computers are reactive, humans can be proactive.
If you see a hill coming up, you can speed up a little before the hill. Cruise control can only react after you've started dropping speed on the hill and accelerating on an upward incline requires more fuel than if you had sped up before.

It doesn't, unless you drive on a road with a lot of hills. The only difference is that the cruise control can't anticipate and will try to maintain your speed whereas with manual control you can gain momentum before climbing the hill. If you drive on a flat road cruise control is way more efficient.
on the topic of gas, whenever im at the pump, i can only get a dollar worth or so per squeeze. each time i squeeze it cuts off. takes forever to fill tank any suggestions?
>>17522491
Don't insert to the very end. Pull it out about 1cm and should work.
The reason it cuts off it probably because it thinks the tank is full.
>>17522491
Tanks full? Pump is broken? "full tank" sensor is fucked? Don't be lazy and just hold the pump down rather that using its flip down latch.

Reposition the nozzle a bit further out, our pressure is building up in the tank and pushing the valve in the nozzle closed, let the nozzle out a bit and let the air escape as you pump.

thank you fellas will do

constantly regulating fuel input and air throttle means always allowing fuel and air into the cylinder where with just your foot you can release fuel from entering the system thus.. using less fuel. not always more effective.
