What does /o/ think about the W203 platform?

Eyeing down a 2007 C230 sport package with 80k miles. It's equipped with the 2.5 v6 and has already had the conductor plate fix done he says. I already know about the expensive maintenance and am planning on taking out a 3rd party warranty.

I test drove one. It was a nice car but it was a bit slow to really have fun, and I really had to wind it out to get the engine to make good power. Then it started to make some funny noises from the front of the engine so I passed on it. I saw the same car for sale a year later with "balance shaft needs fixed". Dodged a bullet there. Try to find a C350 with a manual instead.
