Moving to a state that requires front plates soon. How do I keep my car from getting cucked? Should I just renew in my old state to keep my current plates?

use a plate holder that attaches to the tow hook slot.

That really isn't any better and often looks worse

If it's the state in the pic, yes, renew in your old state and drive on those plates for a year. CA's DMV is such a fucking pain to deal with, if you can avoid it or postpone it, do so.

still there and still looks like shit. Consider a removable mount that bolts under the chassis.

I feel for you OP, I live in Virginia. I've been pulled over several times and I just inform the cop that I'm waiting for a new bracket to come in. I know the local cops well enough to where they never bother me about it. I wish you luck
Just get a lamborghini, mclaren etc. Where I live none have front plates and they rarely get pulled over
Or get one of these https://youtu.be/JnMKGc86kNg?t=1m30s
