I think replicas are fine as long as they are mechanically identical (or as close as can) to the original.

I just don't get the appeal, you're getting something that is probably an MR2 underneath, but is now wayyy heavier, has ruined chassis dynamics and suspension geometry, and is slower not only from weight but larger wheels and tires.
The only upside is to LOOK like you own something more special and expensive, all at a 30k+ premium over wat would normally be a unique, fun to drive japanese sports car.
