Ok so I'm thinking about buing a 240 and putting a v8 in it. How much of a pain in the ass is it and is it worth it?

Much bigger pain than its worth.
They have swap kits that are around 2-4K and come with pretty much everything required including shit like the driveshaft

Because it's what you do to a virgin 240sx, you pop that hood, stick both your fists in there and start pumping away.
I thought this thread was about Volvos
Not interested now

Not a bad choice but itll be hell making anything fit, even the LS in ur pic is crammed as fuck.
Youre looking at 10k bare minimum just to make things work. If you just want something light, a chevy II or fox comes with a small block v8, trans to match that can hold torque. Same with the rear end.
About 3 grand will turn a 350 or 302 into a mean motor. But if youve got the money, drop thousands into a good LS, have fun clearancing everything and doing all custom wiring and harnesses and fuel. Then get a new trans and cut reposition th3 shifter, then youll need a modified driveshaft and probably a built 9 inch rear.
Obvious choice to me. If i had that kind of money id settle on a vette
