Why do companies making overstressed 4bangers when no one wants them?
Like what is the point of a turbo STI, type-r, or an evo? No one wants to have to wring the power out of their car and it all sounds like shit. Wher ethe fuck are the inline sixes. Who is even buying this garbage? Pisses me off.

Inline sixes are LONG, and may not easily fit in an engine bay.
My friend's "new beetle" has an i5 oddly enough though.
Probably better to do a V6.

As others have said, inline-sixes are hard to package. Plus they're not as fuel efficient and don't provide significant power improvement over V6's.

Euro VI emissions regs that prioritize CO2 reductions over real pollutants like CO or NOx. About the only way to meet the CO2 target is with a uselessly small engine for modern cars so the fix is forced induction which the testing doesn't take into consideration because the cars can make the test without going into boost. Problem is nobody actually drives that way and the real world emissions and economy are worse than they would be with a larger N/A engine. CO2 excepted of course

there are some great sounding straight fours, besides the inline 6 isn't as well balanced, costs more, and wouldn't work with the extremely common front wheel drive platforms that most companies use now.
