Based on what I see at work, I'm going to say the Chevrolet Impala, regardless of engine. Our of all the cars and trucks Chevy sells, the Impala seems to have the least mechanical problems. For shit sake, get over your self. I just pulled a refrigerated box of a 2000 chevy 1ton that had 40k on the small block chevy under the hood. I had a '90 f150 that I recently sold that had that kind of mileage. ANY modern car that is not run into the ground and taken car of will do what you described. Will they need occasional repair work? Well yes. But shit wears out on any car, even 70s Checkers or 80s Volvos.

>>
The excessive amount of electronics in modern cars makes me question the long-term reliability (and by "long term" I mean 15+ years - not 3 years like JD Power's ratings).
Electronics are almost always the first thing to break in a car, but it hasn't been as much of an issue as it is now.

It used to be the radio or headlights would go out, and you could either repair/replace them for a fairly low price or just ignore it.

But now core components, things like speedometers or digital. It's even worse for all of these cars with "driver assist" packages on them.
All of these people accustomed to driving with blind spot sensors - what happens when it breaks, they don't shoulder-check, and run right into someone?

Cases from all the big 3 pickup manufacturers will exist. Half tons, 3/4s and one tons will all have examples well north of 250k.

250k is absolutely nothing in the fleet world. The manager that inspects jobsites once in a blue moon will have 500k before he gets a new truck.

Ford Focus/etc. Will have lots of high mileage examples. Again, these are used as service vehicles.

Vans do that mileage regularly.

That's cosmetic damage and has nothing to do with overall vehicle longevity. (It has everything to do with CAFE requirements.)

If I had to beat the shit out of I'd just toss a suitable sheet of steel into the bed (that trick goes back at least to the 1940s) and continue to beat the shit out of it. Trucks are tools.

BTW I keep trucks for many years and found it wise to remove all the bed bolts, slather them with anti-seize, and reinstall. Comes in handy when you need to unbolt a bed to change a fuel pump the easy way.

>>17444436
I mean I'll argue that most "Electrical Gremlins" are a result of mixing mechanical and electrical systems multiple times, with a fully electric car you avoid this because there's no BS engine control/sensors/alternator to deal with, the actual drivetrain is much simpler, you have a motor maybe a gearbox of some sort and a hall effect sensor for rpm/position there's just a lot less to go wrong there.

Now batteries like >>17444436 and >>17448407 mentioned are likely to be a wear item, I'd give them 10 years at best if modern hybrid systems are any sort of a litmus test but they're apt to be somewhat replaceable.

Sure in the case of a Tesla there's way more shit than their needs to be, but that's because it's a luxury car for people with too much money, done with reliability in mind you could literally just use some sort of brushless hub motor for each wheel so there's no fucking around with CV joints and differentials, you can design the car without having to worry about how to get mechanical power to the wheels since all you need is two power cables and a PWM line for the position sensor, this cuts out a ton of weight and complexity.

This means that it'd be piss ass easy to make a electric 4wd and since it's electric you would have maximum torque at zero rpm which would be great for offroading.
>>
>>17450907
The professional version maybe, the one you posted has too many electronics. Mercedes doesn't do reliable electronics these days, not sure if they really ever did.
>>
>>17453712
Hub motors are shit, Even for something as simple as a Ebike. Motors need a relatively high gear reduction which is why literally everything powered by an electric motor uses a gear reduction. That "ludicrous instant torque" in a Tesla comes from the gear reduction.

not too many when it comes to essential functions
