A quick update on the fun race for today. The PP limit is going to be set at 462, which is the PP of the bone stock Commodore, and if you pick the GTO you will need to detune your car.

is VR a gimmick for sim racing, or is it capable of replacing three proper displays? I spent three days in DK2 when it was still hot shit, but i mostly played elite dangerous so i don't really know how well does it work in asscorsa/iracing. Is resolution a pain?

Sim racing is a natural application for VR because you're in a fixed position relative to your immediate surroundings (wheel, pedals and virtual cockpit) unlike other VR games where you have to teleport around the place.

Resolution could be improved, it's hard to read small details like distances on brake boards but you can use other things for your braking references.

I'm mostly concerned about having to wave my head around a lot when i want to check the sides. DK2 had terrible viewing angles. I mean sure, you track other players approximate position in your head without having to constantly see everything, but i feel like periperhal vision is important thing in racing.

depends what's important to you. blind spots don't matter if you're hotlapping but in saido bai saido combat it's a disadvantage. 3D-rendered adjustable mirrors would help but in most games the mirrors are useless if you can even see them at all (webm related).

even with triples you might need to bind a key to look left or right sometimes, and the virtual mirrors usually have a high fov so you have a better idea of what's going on around you. i guess you could still bind a look left/right button in VR if you really need to.

i read that some development headset has 2 screens laid out in landscape orientation unlike the current generation. that should help in sim racing where horizontal fov is more important than vertical fov.

I'm having a hard time picking out a racing game to get into, Project Cars, Rfactor, Assetto Corsa, Live for Speed, blah blah blah, I have no idea what the real differences between these games are.

I want to get one game in which I can pick a car, a fairly normal street car, pick a course I like, and drive that course in that car over and over. Once I'm confident in my own abilities with that car and on that course, I want to start changing things up by modifying the car. I want to use the game as a learning experience to practice my driving and learn how changes to a car affect how it drives.

What should I be looking at?

I can live with that desu, since most of us are not abusing tryhards and we just want to gather and have some fun. You can take any ISImotor engine game, make a session in 10 minutes and in 30 people can put reliable put decent laps on it. On top of that, we can have custom skins easily, we can choose whichever car we want without hassle, and don't have to worry about checksums since the games are final versions.

Queue AC in, where people who havent bought the games have to search for a bunch of updates to avoid getting locked out of a servers, the templates are horrible and getting them on the server requires the horrible booking feature, and the 60% of the vanilla content is street cars and the half of the remaining 40% is half filled or single car racecar disciplines.

But hey, we gotta have a somewhat better driving feel and those cool new graphics. OVGTP will be RANWEC 2.0 and soon enough it'll hit sub 15, if not sub 10 people if it keeps having problems.

what ffb setting is the one that causes violent knocking sounds and nudging? the one that triggers in AC when you turn f1 car wheel near 180 in fast turns, and it might have something to do with damaged front wheels and in dirt rally happens all the time


i'm worried for my wheel's health and it distracts me because it feels like the nugs are sliding off because it causes the wheel itself to feel like it's moving/loose even when it isn't, i need to turn it off

Thanks guys. Are there any casual shitbox races or servers for ovg on AC? Ive been driving an eg6 civic group a car a lot and its fun. Also, some of the mods I install didnt work even though i installed them the same way as the ones that do, just extract them to the cars folder. They show up on my car list but when i hit start it loads then kicks back to the menu where I pick my track/car. Any ideas?

The AC server software is randomly closing without anything showing in the log files, pretty hard to figure out when you have no information to go on. Going to have to scrub AC from the server and reinstall everything again.

At least host a turbocasual AC server so we can help figure out what the fuck is wrong with the server.

LFS handles a lot of exceptions better than AC does, and (so i won't r2kguytalk) handling model isn't that far from AC v10 either.

What would be the best racing game on PS4 for me? I used to play a lot of GT5 until PD shut the servers down, I hated all the "standard" and "premium" cars in that game and the awful engine sounds, but online mode was quite solid, which is why I still played it.

Should I wait for GT Sport or look into whatever suggestion you guys give me?

i guess literally anything will do. Dirt Rally "multiplayer" times were fun to get, so if you're into rally, surely try either DR (still quite popular, many dislike D4) or D4.
