Good article, but lots of writing for something easily summed up: if it’s under 25 year old, if it’s not imported as farm equipment, if it’s not on the show and dsiplay list, if it’s not possible to make it be on the show and display list (long and difficult process and only available if your car is deemed rare enough) and if it’s not an ex-motorex car, or made compliant to motorex standards (ie: 1997 R33 GT-R), then it’s been illegally imported. That's not exclusive to Japanese car makers in not selling a good product here. German car marques do it a lot. French car manufacturers don't sell at all, even Renault won't give us a Renault rebadged as a Nissan. They still chose to not surrender, and you know what happened next.
