This is the free market* at work.

*The import ban was enacted to protect mainly luxury import brands from people importing less expensive foreign market models of their cars and having them Federalized by private businesses.

Also if your shitstain government is this easily lobbied, it's a government problem, not a corporates problem. Stop shifting the blame from your sorry-ass abortion of a government.

Dat Crown Majesta. Really noice. The Cedric as well. Such a shame that all JDM cars have the steering wheel on the wrong side, otherwise I'd probably own one.

Good article, but lots of writing for something easily summed up: if it’s under 25 year old, if it’s not imported as farm equipment, if it’s not on the show and dsiplay list, if it’s not possible to make it be on the show and display list (long and difficult process and only available if your car is deemed rare enough) and if it’s not an ex-motorex car, or made compliant to motorex standards (ie: 1997 R33 GT-R), then it’s been illegally imported. Easy.

Here is a Nissa Silvia S15 Varietta for your time

I hate the show and display exemption. Basically it exempts rich people from the shit we have to deal with. The worst part about the 25 year BS is that there arent enough people who actually care about it to change the rule. On a side note, I saw an R34 the other day (non-gtr) registered in Oklahoma.

W8 I thought you just couldn't street register them until they were 25 years old? It's illegal to even import/possess them?

>authorities discovered a 1996 Nissan R33 Skyline GT-R hidden within a shipping container destined for the dealer. That car is banned under U.S. import laws
But that's wrong. The R33 GTR was the only car Motorex did the testing for legit.
>>
>>17419521
I never knew about the Varietta, and now I really want one and will never get one. Fuckin' 25 law
>>
>>17419541
Its been pretty apparent for a # of years now that there's a separate legal system for the rich/wealthy
>>
>>17421178
Yeah, looks like the actual wrongdoing was customs declaration fraud. Might be a stolen car, but they obviously didn't do the right paperwork to import it.

>The R33 was described as a “used breakdown car” and worth only $810 on its shipping documents, according to the search warrant, writes The Post and Courier. Speaking with a federal import specialist, the paper determined that the car was actually worth around $51,000. After finding the key, authorities were able to start the car, no problem.

What's wrong with wanting a used car that other people who are just as human as I am are allowed to have but I'm not because my government is shit and the carmaker is also shit because they won't sell it here in the first place? There's no reason we should be at the mercy of the carmaker to decide whether we should be able to own a car. It's a giant hunk of metal and rubber. What is so bad about that, just because it's not old enough?

If it was truly about safety and emissions, then they would be banning cars 25 and older and only allowing cars newer than that in. Because, fucking obviously. A 1992 model is much less safe and much dirtier than something much newer.
>>
>>17421410
>There's no reason we should be at the mercy of the carmaker to decide whether we should be able to own a car

You faggots killed hundreds of thousands of their people in an instant, not once but twice. They have the right to refuse to sell their products to you.

And it's completely the car maker's choice as to whether a country gets their products or not. Just because people want their products doesn't instantly mean that the car maker has to sell it to them.
>>
>>17421434
That's not exclusive to Japanese car makers in not selling a good product here. German car marques do it a lot. French car manufacturers don't sell at all, even Renault won't give us a Renault rebadged as a Nissan. Even American makes with foreign divisions won't sell their own cars here either, there's lots of good Fords, Opels, and Holdens that never came here.

Have you even researched the Pacific front part of WWII at all? We didn't just drop the atomic bombs on them for shits and giggles. Look up attrition warfare. The Japanese at the time would not surrender no matter what before August 1945. The Pacific island battles were all horrifically bloody and had absolutely enormous losses of life from both sides, literally in the millions. Truman and General Groves had both calculated that the loss of life from the bomb was less than if the island warfare continued. On July 26tg, they dropped leaflets all over Japan and broadcast their message in both Japanese and English over the radio warning the citizens of incoming bombings on several major cities and to evacuate, and gave the Potsdam Declaration that told the Japanese armed forces that if they did not give unconditional surrender, they would face prompt and utter destruction. Admiral Toyoda decided to ignore it, and Truman gave another warning broadcast by Japanese news agencies: "expect a rain of ruin from the air, the like of which has never been seen on this earth."

They still chose to not surrender, and you know what happened next.

>I'm a retard: the post
all the cool chink guns made by Norinco are banned from being imported to the US forever, meanwhile the fucking leafs get them by the boatload. The same goes for anything from Russia as well as all foreign guns deemed to have """""no sporting purpose""""".

if gun importation was subject to the same rules as car importation (i.e. a 25-year rule) I'd be over the fucking moon, the current situation is abysmal and it gets even worse every year.

It isn't banned but they had no intention of importing it with the help of an RI because the fuckers doing this stupid shit don't have the 30-40k to do the anti-intrusion bar retrofits that are needed to pass FMVSS among other things.

Once the year 2025 hits. Nobody will care about the 25-year rule. Because what good JDM cars came out after 2000? Don't say shit like R34 or RX7, they ceased only a year or two later so it's negligible.

So basically, some cars nobody knows about. The 00s is when cars became standard across countries. There aren't really any mass-produced cars that we didn't get here in the US.
