Diesel Swaps
Why aren't they more popular?
I decides if I get a 240sx and for whatever reason the engine seizes or has too many problems, I'd Diesel swap it
Friends say this is a bad Idea
Why?
if not, what diesel engine would be recommended?
>still a newfag to /O/
I'm here to learn
>am in California, Diesel is cheaper than gasoline
they are literally meme tier now
they were cool at first but now theyre meh from so many doing them
id suggest not spending thousands of dollars to have slightly cheaper fuel

Diesel motors are heavy, expensive and shit at making HP due to RPM restrictions.
They definitely have their place, but aren't a good swap for performance or even everyday driving

Weird because I've seen diesel swaps on a Charger & Camero, and they seem to be plenty fast & powerful
What makes them different?

swaping a 1jz or an sr or an ls would be better in every way except special snowfake points

That video gave me autism.
But I imagine those swaps would be astronomically expensive as opposed to a traditionally swap and would come with a slew of problems.
Is it really worth that much money to "roll coal" in a 25 year old nip sports car? And after all that work to be beat out by a LS1 swap for about $5k
Diesel swaps are fun in straight lines or from pulling at normal road speed in high gear but other than that they are garbage for any kind of performance driving unless you want to hate your life.

i drive a diesel car in CA
honestly, I love it, it gets wonderful fuel economy, pulls steadily, i enjoy the manual transmission too but it's... not fast. turbodiesels can be pretty fun on the right platform, older golfs or TDIs or turbodiesels but it's not really worth the trouble of going out of your way for a swap in a car that already has better gas engine options
if the car was originally diesel, it's fine to tune it and it might end up being fast and fun
but converting a gasoline sportscar to diesel is just silly
