Why doesn't /o/ like big cars? Man I fucking love massive boats. I drive a new Challenger and wish it was bigger, my next car will probably be an older well maintained Cadillac.
>>
hard to park
>>
theyre shit to drive and most of them are ugly

most people on here prefer fun cars not pointless compensators
>>
Lack of space

no idea what the roads are like in the states, but Europoor roads simply aren't built for gigantic boats like Cadillacs or pickups
>>

me too op

Normies cant park em. And they get beat to shit with dings.

>expensive to own
>expensive to drive
>can't park in my neighbourhood
>can't park in 90% of the parking spots
>can't drive in half the country

That's why.
Would like a 1959 DeVille convertible, but it just isn't practical

If it weren't for things like parking structures, parallel parking, downtown Los Angeles in general, and tight parking lots, I'd drive one of these.
>>
>>17398125
yes the issue is crystal clear

a group of niggers decided to make parking spaces small for no good reason & normal faggots are too autistic to drive around the big car in an unnecessarily small parking space
>>
>>17397924
I like the idea of driving around a huge, roomy, living room of a car, with enough space for rear passengers to stretch their legs with the front seats all the way back, but most are really inefficient. I would like to see a full-sized EV with emphasis on comfort and space. The quietness of electrical propulsion would add to the serenity of a luxury car.
>>
>>17398513
Large pickups are surprisingly nimble if you back into parking spots. It's like a giant forklift. But like, that's the rule, if you can't back in, you are FUCKED

Go early 70's if you can. I had one of these and it was a maze of vacuum hoses, and not much for HP

>get small land barge
>swap in big boat anchor

WHY DOES AN ENGINE BUILD COST SO MUCHFFFFFFFFFFFFF
>>
>>17398570
I've heard this. Backing into spaces doesn't seem that hard. It's things like small, unmarked lots, drive-thrus, other drivers, and other things I might run into. I don't think I need a long bed, anyway. The back of my compact SUV is enough for 98% of my needs, and a bike rack covers another 1%.

Plus, there's parking structures. I read on some forum that some guy got stuck on an incline because he couldn't clear the clearance bar. He wasn't too tall, but his long bed crew cab was too long. The worst part is that he had to get out, approach each car, and explain to 8 other drivers that they all had to back ALL the way out of the parking structure because his truck was stuck, then back all the way out. The horror...

Maybe we're interested in decent urban planning instead of paving square miles of parking lots into the landscape.

The first car I learned in and drove was my parents' 76 Buick Electra. It was fun enough on the highway, but could suck in the city, especially parking. I failed the parallel part of my driving test with Das Boat and had to do it again with a friend's compact whatever it was. And that was where cars were headed; more compact.

Now the average sedan is some 4 feet shorter than those long ass cars and weigh 1000+ pounds less. Much easier to drive, maneuver, and park. My 06 Tundra truck is about 3" shorter than that 233" Electra and they both weigh around 5000lb. My truck's wheelbase is longer, so it's a bigger bitch to turn, but they both drive kinda similar otherwise. The Electra had a big ass 455ci, neutered down to 205hp. The truck's 286ci engine puts out 270hp. My 4 cyl sedans put out around 170hp, but move quicker because of their smaller size.

The greatest things about those big ass land yachts were their styling and their cavernous interiors.
>>
>>17398634

i wish there was this much parking in downtown houston, now they just have parking meters everywhere
>>
>>17399289
Long wheelbase chauffeured limos shouldn't count in my opinion, otherwise we can just keep adding windows to trump each other.

And now behold, the grand yachts offered by GM between '71 and '76 at up to 231.8 inches. I remember reading that they're the largest and heaviest production model Buicks, Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles ever made, and that the last year Buicks are the largest station wagons ever made.

Real shame though because the interiors are complete crap.
>>
>>17397924
Owned a few yachts over the last few years. They're great and get lots of attention but like many others have said they aren't practical. I had an 86 Colony Park wagon that was a bitch to drive in my city. Horrible to parallel but if you can find a big enough space it isn't that bad. The worst was that when I parked I was scared anything was going to happen to it even if I parked it far away. The 302 would get similar mpg to modern suvs thanks to overdrive but it still made half the horsepower. All in all if I were to get an old barge again it'd be a weekend car not a daily driver

and an actual luxurious interior like a Maybach or Rolls

a proper luxury car and not American style shit
>>
>>17397924
I like them, I have since I was a child growing up around boats, particularly a 75 Grand Marquis we had as a kid made me like them. Yeah I like small fun cars too, but I have a thing for boats as well. (Shit I like pretty much anything that pique's my interest) I get why people don't like them though they're a bitch to park most places, suck gas, aren't particularly engaging to drive and are mostly just good for slow cruising etc.

Haven't owned a boat yet, closest I got was nearly buying a Crown Vic. Thankfully where I live right now parking isn't an issue most of the time so when I find a decent deal for a barge I can do it, mostly want one for comfortable cruising with friends.
>>
>>17397924
>Why doesn't /o/ like big cars?
I fucking do.
They are great to drive
feel like king of the road
comfy
spacious
We need more full sized rear wheel drive sedans.

In a world of compact sedans and bloated pick-ups and SUV's be a large sedan.

I want an old Pontiac station wagon. That design just gets me hard.

Older cars are cheaper to maintain, easier to own and insure, and while they spend more on gas, it's neglibalble if you're not dumb. Those things should be fun weekend stuff. Get a shit econobox for a-b traveling.
>>
>>17398634
>Maybe we're interested in decent urban planning
Decent planning is offering enough parking to support your population and lower class automobile ownership.

Squeezing everyone in as tight as you possibly can and forcing them to buy the smallest cars possible just to fit down your roads or use public transportation is not urban planning, it's the result of a lack of planning. That's what happens when your infrastructure is designed without automobiles in mind. You can argue that you prefer it, but you can not argue that it is good urban planning, because it's not.

German drivers can't be trusted to have the situational awareness to navigate around a car that sticks out less than two feet past the parking space unless it's flagged by five separate traffic cones?

Those were beautiful cars. You could never drive them around Europe as the roads are too small.

I drive a 92 silverado extended cab standard bed and a 2014 silverado single cab long bed in a urban area and its my go to move.
