Why don't cars look like this now that we're living in the future?
Where are all the cool spaceship cars we were promised?
safety, bad design and the '08 recession killing anything but the top 3 in every market along with what little passion/creativity they all had

got a few hundreds thousand dollars?
Computer design has got a lot better and batteries have got better. so you can have a nissan leaf instead of a 2 seater ev1.
I drove the Impact and EV1 in the late 90s and early 00. When I worked for the local power utility hear in Georgia.
We loved our EV1s in the company fleet. when we found out the fate of ours. we thought about how we could hide them away from GM and save them from the crusher. though our corporate bosses didn't like the idea.
we did get a deactivated copy saved. one to a small museum well outside Atlanta.
we could get the driving again. GM didn't take the electric S-10s. which use the same drivetrain and batteries as teh EV1. so you just need a to get our hands on the EV1 and one of those old S-10s.

this.
although I would argue car design became shit before the 08 recession.
globalism helped. American cars in particular started going south in the mid 90's when they stopped being made in the US and started being made in mexico and canada. when you no longer make them where you design them, IMO, that has an impact. there's a cold detatchment.
