Why does the corvette come with leaf springs and not a proper racetuned suspension?

Volvo does leaf springs too. They're great if you want a rollbar and spring in one, and they save a lot of space. The compromise is adjustability, altough you could get pretty close on a factory setting.

Please explain how convetional coilsprings can link several axles then.
>>

>First coil spring used in 1763
>First leaf spring used in 1804
When will the coiloverfags finally learn to use modern suspension?!
>>
>>17387370
show me a tractor trailer that uses leaf springs that go inline with the axle

But son, transverse fibreglass monoleaf setups have nothing to do with longitudinal multileaf springs. Haven't you been paying attention in Engineering class lately? You are studying to become an automotive engineer, aren't you? If not why, are you even on this board...
>>
>>17387429
I know the car does sideways a lot so you might think it's going forward, but the geometry is totally different from a truck. it's more similar to double wishbone than traditional leaf designs. it allows for decent travel without tall shock towers, while keeping the geometry benefits of maintaining tire camber independently.

>he thinks /o/ knows about cars
they only know about leaf springs from the bus
>>

>they only know about leaf springs from the bus
But our local buses have air suspension, not even leaf springs anymore.
>>
>>17387481
most of the shitposters are underage, so they know only about school buses. most of those are still leaf
>>
>>17387469
>>17387457

yeah ok sweetie, thats why corvette owners are lining up out the door for coilover conversion kits
>>
>>17387457
>multileaf
Trying to make it sound like multi-link and therefore more modern?
>>
>>17387567
The only Corvette owners who are ''lining up'' are drag or track guys wanting adjustability. For 90% of owners, the factory leaf springs are fine. I bet you only a handful of Volvo owners (outside of stancefaggots) have ever done a coilover conversion on their monoleaf rear ends.

>>17387573
No, that's just terminology. Multileaf springs are actually older than monoleafs. Even more confusingly, you could make a multi-link monoleaf suspension.

>hey guys look, Volvo uses it too in all their piece of shit econoboxes. You don't see them complaining!
>>
>>17387601
really in only one category: adjustability.
leaf springs are easier to service, and have smaller packaging for lower COG and more space inside the car.
for racing on multiple tracks, coils are superior for their adjustability
