So I just drove my friends new elantra sport
What the hell, this thing doesn't even feel like it has a turbo, it feels like a NA. How the fuck did they do this?

Tiny ass turbo that spools almost instantly.

This. It runs out at higher RPM.

Here's a dyno chart for it

The turbo doesn't actually work.
It's actually more reliable that way.
Watching reviews from reviewers who drive a lot of new (often small displacement eco-turbo) cars, they complain the performance goes to hell when driven hard for more than a couple minutes because they heat up (hence a hot charge). True?
I.e. They have good acceleration for one or two pulls, but then fall apart.

There's generally a reason why big things use big engines. When you start using tubro'd motorcycle engines to move almost 4000lb hunks of metal things are going to get a little warm.

but does the performance go to shit?
