Sup /o/

So I was gonna change the coolant on my fox body project car today and I take off the radiator cap and see all this hard looking white crap along the inside. Anyone have any idea what it is? Also looking inside the coolant is still pretty green. Not bad for the car sitting for like 10 years.

Probably just vapor building up because of temperature changes

looks like its time for a coolant flush

That's the plan sometime this weekend. I've posted through my progress (it's slow because I can really only have time for it on weekends) and about how I got the car before.

A friend of my uncle had this car sitting in his back yard since he parked it in 2007. He's in his 60s and his knees couldn't take shifting anymore. So he sold it to me and my brother for $100 bucks, and even brought it to my house back in February. We had no idea of what's wrong with it when we got it and mainly just got it for a project for the summer.

Have you been using filtered, distilled water like you're supposed to? Or just tap water?
>>

I haven't don't the flush yet because I wasn't sure what all this crap was, but I have like 4 gallons of distilled water to do multiple flushes. ChrisFix videos have been my best friend in learning how to do this.

Won't work. What's in there is hardened mineral deposits from the water used and it won't come out without physical force. This is what the old practice of "rodding out" radiators did but good luck finding place to get that done now since it's not something that you can do to modern plastic-aluminum radiators. OP will most likely have to get a new one.

dump a lot of seafoam in there, it'll clean everything out nicely
>>
>>17345990
Seaform will break apart everything in there?
>>
>>17346680
STOP STOP STOP DO NOT PUT SEAFOAM IN YOUR RAD
SEAFOAM IS OIL BASED AND DESIGNED TO WORK IN PLACES WITH OIL
OIL + WATER = CHOCOLATE SHAKE = NO GOOD FOR COOLING SYSTEM

Glad I didn't do it then. Just did a standard coolant, then multiple water flushes. Thank got I didn't listen to that guy
