>buy used car like a month and a half ago
>set a trip odometer when I bought it, just passed 1500miles
>check oil this morning out of curiosity
>dipstick is bone dry
fuck /o/ what kind of fucking retard doesn't change the oil immediately when they buy a car?? I'm gonna change it first thing after work today...but fuck me i feel dumb. What are the odds I've screwed myself? It had oil when I got it, but who fucking knows how old that might have been.. I even took the fucking thing on a 500 mile trip last weekend FUCK.

ya u dumb especially not checking it before/ after a trip, but remember that the dipstick usually only measures 1-2 quarts of your oil capacity
so you didn't run the engine bone dry and aren't an completely stoopid

>>17334939
Old oil is not that bad as /o/ make it.
It's seems like you check just before it's too late.
You can change oil every 20k km and its will be find
>>17336187
No it fucking won't you're retarded. Oil viscosity will increase and increase well after its life time of use. All the built up contaminants and metals will just cause more issues. Polymerization is another huge issue that directly causes oil sludge.
Don't be a fuckin retard. Change your oil with the oem recommended oil at the recommended mileage/time interval
