If you intend to use the truck as a truck, then a Ranger/S10 is out. In that case, I would just pick from Ford or GM. They have about the same reliability and the fuel economy, depending on the motor/trans/gearing setup. Just see what the best deal you can get is. You aren't going to find a super efficient used full size pickup.
