Why kei-cars are not that popular in Europe?
Outside dimensions are close to A-class vehicles like Kia Picanto, VW Up!...
But inside there is more room...
>>17313720
Nobody offers them
>>17313722
I know. But why?
>>17313724
because we don't have strict restrictions and taxation like japan does.
So we can have kia picantos vw ups toyota iq's and smarts because people want them not because they're the only things people can afford
The ones that have been offered here or are offered here are moderately popular. There's even an Austrian company that outfits Jimnys with a pickup bed for municipal work. If I recall correctly a lot of kei cars have bad crash ratings though to keep their size down, so I'm not sure if the four door models would even be allowed for sale here.
>not safe at highway speed

many kei cars were sold in europe (wagon-r, mira, cappuccino, copen, i, move, alto) they usually had larger engines than the JDM model
>>17313755
>>17313730
Maybe. But still, why they are not selling them there? Dimensions are same, motor is smaller (but it is not an issue I guess)...
Why Kia Ray (CUV based on Picanto, but already not a kei-car) is not selling in europe? It has the same 1L motor, dimensions are close. And pricetag is quite the same...
>>17313742
Crash-test results are similar to other a-class vehicles, because mass is close or same. (800-1000 kgs)
>>17313755
Because in Japan they have regulations about that. (660 cc. or smth. like that)
In EU we do not.
And why there is no cars like that http://toyota.jp/spade/ ? It is not a kei-car, but still.
>>17313776
>>17313786
But there is no more cars like that, unfortunatelly
>>17313776
>And why there is no cars like that http://toyota.jp/spade/ ?
You were saying? The 1007 is shorter than the Spade actually.
>>17313803
And the B-Max is only slightly longer than the Spade.
Never seen one in Europe.
Who the fuck would buy this piece of shit?
>>17313720
They're only popular in Japan because regulation forces you to have a parking space before owning anything bigger.
In europe, we have roads with potholes in that need real cars to cope with.
>>17313766
>Why Kia Ray is not selling in europe?
Because I'd rather drive my shitty Picanto than that loaf of bread.
