Hey guys.
Im getting a BMW M3 E46. Its my dream car.
Id appreciate the insight on the car that i may have not seen prior. I did my homework, i know the basic gist.
bye bye money
>>17301721
>i know thr basic gist
Please inform us of this basic gist you know.
>>17301721
Should have gotten an e36/39 m.
>>17301725
yeah yeah..
I saved up a good amount so im not too worried about it.. as far as taking it too the shop goes, should a go to the stealership or some indy place near by. wondering basically what the move is as far as that goes
>>17301732
lol, to me theyre not pretty.
>>17301731
i understand it has the threat of having subframe issues, that the oil change process is a bit more than taking it to midas and that treating it like a race car everyday wont do me any good.
>>17301741
What about the gist!?!
You said you knew the gist!!
>>17301731
im planning to get an oil change, air filter replaced and basically im asking what else should i take the time to consider.
Its transmission is brand new and so is the AC. the wheels are new and the brakes were replaced in 2013, so basically new
>>17301741
I'd find an independent yuro specialist with a good reputation, fuck stealerships
>>17301747
see >>17301746 and >>17301753 for the so called """gist"""
Ive had practice with the handling of the car (via gran turismo and forza horizon) and feel like I understand the nature of the car. The interior bascially looks the same as it did in forza horizons, so i have that going, plus I have it in estroli blue, which will undoubtably make the bitches so wet

Also 100% of your cooling sytem will need to be replaced every 2.75 years and the suspension bushings as well.
Germans while being one of the first to harness the power of electricity still seem to do it the worst of any country.
Nobodies buying german desktop PCs are they........ no they aren't cause they would burn your house down and you would lose all your rare pepes.
>>17301778
i understand the cooling system needs to be replaced, but are you serious every 2.75 years?
i thought I could go off of the miles the car had, not the time spent. its at 80k now, i was thinking at some point in the near future to get a new cooling system for it anyway.
>>17301778
we used to have a 3 series hatchback, so thanks for reminding me about that.. maybe its because germany is cold? who knows, it wont do me good. Im in hot weather
Did your homework cover the part where it's not a fast car? You may get bored of it pretty quickly.
>>17301741
I've like five BMWs and MBs to a random Mexican guy I know. He does a fine job. Don't fall for "highly reputable" or "dealership" memes.
>>17301721
>dream car
>did my homework
>know the basic gist
>give me insight on the car
So you know it's a BMW M3.

I don't know how the model years in the U.S. were, but if it's not after 2003/4 then definitly could have the sub frame issue, even if it has been fixed it is known to still break.
If it doesn't have spotless service list drop it, the engines are very fiddly if not serviced regularly.
Depending on the mileage, the water pump is made out of plastic, maybe needed to be changed.
Only go for Manual.
Rust could occure in the typical spots "Seitenschweller" don't know the term in english, is below the door, goes from tire to tire.
I can check out a video later with more info in it.
Just put an LSx in it and you'll basically be Blusš

Trunk lid, Differential could leak.
I would really recommend going for 2004-2006 models, if you can get one. 2005-2006 only if you ask me.
Other than that should pe pretty solid, but only get if its been serviced by bmw, call the dealer.

Lol anon I just bought an e46 for $1000 like 3 months ago. Had 80k on the clock. Spend $1400 replacing EVERYTHING in the cooling system. fucker still overheats. ANON DONT BUY IT
>>17301721
Get a 330i instead, kinda fast, not so expensive, handles well - I guess you don't want to go to a track anyways
>>17302065
and just as I was planning to blow a thousand eurobucks on a E36, I see this.
shit, am I fugged?
>>17302083
Why would you be fucked? Just do a test drive, check it and if there are any problems fix them. There is a very usefulle website for bwm parts:
