Self driving cars are just a full on fucking fantasy maymay. Can you imagine a self driving car doing shit like driving on washboard roads and car eating potholes, driving on snow or ice? Self driving cars will end up in the dust bin like flying cars and my house on the moon by the year 1995. At best it will be a shitty taxi like service. If we actually took care of our roadways and rebuilt our roadways for self driving cars it might be different, but that aint going to fucking happen. There are far to many mud huts in the world to bomb, we cant spend money in our own nation.

The problem with self-driving cars is that to do what they do, many things in the car will also be self-diagnosing. So, if you don't repair something, you could lose your new car warranty. If there is an accident, you can have the compensation amount reduced due to deliberate negligence unless you also purchased the insurance waiver for negligence if there was such a policy option available.

And the driving data is always recorded and phoned home to a database. It will show your lifestyle when combined with your smart meter (home power and home water usage records). So the car (and the database) knows when you are driving illegally, recklessly, or in some states felony speeding.

When that data is obtained by the insurance agencies, your insurance rates go up. Of course, to make it look good, both politicians and companies will publicly state they are not using the data to raise your rates. Speak like lawyers. But they use the data to evaluate the driver. And it is the driver's risk rating that raises the rate. Same difference but how they said it means they technically didn't lie. They did not (directly) use the info to raise rates.
