They're going to merge Chrysler products into Dodge because Dodge is a more recognisable name. Most people don't think of Chrysler when they think of luxury cars and for good reason.
As a whole, yeah, Chrysler went down the shitter when Fiat bought them. They've always been the most troubled of the Big Three.

Fiat has no intention of keepingthem around. Fiat used Dodge as a step to try and bring Fiat to the US. No one's buying their shit Fiats but Fiat doesn't want Chrysler around.

This has been the issue Chrysler has had since Diamler owned them. They can't be good enough to compete with their owner's cars, which are garbage to begin with.

I suspect they'll hang on another few years until they are ready to update the LX platform and then dump the 300 and move the Pacifica over to Dodge as a new Grand Caravan. Either that or Sergio spins off their important brands like Jeep and Ram, cashes out, and leaves Chrysler a rotting carcass with no capital.
