Petrol cars are more fun to drive and sound nicer.
Diesel has no advantages if you drive <25.000km a year.

I think my 1000cc Africa twin get's similar efficiency while still doing 0-100 in 4 seconds or so.
Put a top box on it and commute on it, legally splitting lanes and such. Pretty good.
