We are both mazda brothers ruining our own mpg through stupid driving then lol. I don't get to push mine in the rpms much since I drive small distance to work but I try to get as much as I can before I hit the person in front of me just for that sweet sweet intake/blow off noise.

Synthetic oil in engine and differentials. Fresh transmission fluid. Those three helped a bit.

I avg about 16 in my 1998 explorer 5.0 awd. Which was better than my v6 jeep liberty that got 15 no matter what.

I average around 10mpg doing a 50/50 highway/city split everyday. I only live 8 miles from work so I don't really mind. Highway only isn't too bad, gets about 16 empty, around 9 towing 5-8k. Could use more gear in the city/towing, the 351 doesn't like the 3.55's, really needs 4.10's. I enjoy driving my old rattly clunky 3/4 ton though so I don't mind.

my buddy just got a new huge truck with the biggest engine he could get. he is so stoked about it. he has been grocery getting around town with a 2.5ton dump trailer attached. we got on the freeway yesterday and he accelerated as fast as he could up the onramp and when i asked him why he needs to do that he said its becuase everyone else needs to know that his truck can haul

he just got the vanity plate 'popnbtl' so he is quickly on his way to his thrid dui

myself. i get about 24city, 28hwy in a 2000 2.5L MT ford ranger with a fiberglass shell, food, clothes a bike and a mattress in the back pretty much all the time. i accelerate slow as balls and drive in fourth gear on uphill highways and/or against headwinds

Most modern cars get between 400-500 miles on a tank of gas, regardless of whether or not it is a gas guzzler. A gas guzzler, a half-ton truck for example, will just have a bigger tank to get that 400-500 mile range. The difference is how much that 400-500 miles costs you.

So, yes, while you are filling up every 2 and a half to 3 days, your fill ups are much cheaper compared a bigger car.
