I've been thinking about buying this 2016 GTI with lighting package. Is this a good deal? What does /O/ think of GTIs?

Well alright then. It drove great and the seats were very comfortable and supportive. Good power, nice stereo and turned like a go cart

For that price or less you could get a used 135i, 335i e92, acura rsx, tsx or tl with a manual, 2010+ mustang gt etc...
GTI's are great, but manuals are better. And 3 doors are better than 5. New GTI's are really damn pricey. You could find a Mk6 lightly driven for probably half the price. Or get a shitbox-tier Mk5 for $6k or less.
But whatever you choose to do, yes, the GTI is a good hatchback.
Make sure you drill holes in the exhaust so everyone around you can tell where the massive faggot is. Also only get one if you can get a manual or your transmission will be slipping by the time it has 50k miles on it

You don't even need to go down a generation.
I was looking at a GTI SE. New was around $30k.
A 2015 (which is exactly the same) with 20k miles for around $18-20k.

I got a 2015 MK7 new for right about 30k. 6MT. Love it aside from annoying noises.
