I don't usually mind them but there's one by the near the school that's right in the radius of a hill.
When you drive down the hill you have to break which naturally pulls the nose of the car down.
Then you hit this awkwardly positioned speed hump (actual asphalt one not this silly bolt on plastic shit) so you inevitably rub with your lip or oil pan/guard.
If it wasn't the middle of the night I'd take a pic of how scrubbed the asphalt on that impact point is.

i recently saw on facebook some "new innovative speedbump" that used air pressure or hydraulics to simply fold down flat when you drive over it slowly, but it would stay still if you drove over it quickly.

as any sponsored facebook post though, i can't fucking find it again. I really liked the idea of just having to slow down and not feeling the bump at all, instead of slowing down and have it fuck my shit up aswell.

Go over it faster, let the tires and suspension take it rather than the body. That's the solution to most speedbumps around where I live. If it can handle a 3 inch deep pothole on the freeway at 100km/h, it can handle a 3 inch tall, meter long speedbump at 50.

Or depending on where you are any car, the ones outside my mother's house cause everything short of a land rover to ground out, even with the Phaeton suspension in the high position and going diagonally scrape on some of them so I now have a convoluted route through the backstreets when I go to visit to avoid the worst ones. It's quite anoying when you are there as well as every time a car goes past you hear it taking a chunk out of the bottom of the car because they are almost 50% higher than the maximum allowed and the approach and departure angles are wrong, but the council refuse to fix them

If you think speed bumps are bad you've never dealt with these fucking things. The one pictured is very new, every one I've seen has grass 4 meters tall so you can't see through it, this means your average driver will fly through it at full speed. I've seen the wreckage of a box truck vs sedan on an otherwise completely safe road, but nope, they keep building them, every 50 meters. And to top it off, kids fucking love these things, they play in the grass and do jumps off the corners all day long. At night it becomes a great place to block the road if you're a criminal looking rob someone.

For anyone wondering how someone was doing 50 in a neighborhood, it's one of those old neighborhoods back when streets were strait (now they make them all twisty to prevent stuff like this). My street is located between two high traffic roads and people used to use the street as a shortcut to get past stoplights.

Luckily since the speed bumps people have stopped using the street as a shortcut, and some streets are actually being closed off at the ends and are converted to dead ends. Too bad it took a kid dying to make this happen tho.
