is there a particular name or term that covers racing like Formula D and other competition around the world that use regular cars tricked out by different part manufacturers and often featuring excessive decals? Nascar and F1 tend to refer to a large group of racing but i cant seem to find any such term that would cover racing without a standardized set of cars used.

There are many "open" classes of racing.
Some have rules like "must be 4 or 6 cylinder, no turbo, rear wheel drive" and as long as the car fits that description, it can race in that class.
