why isn't vw working on bringing the polo (gti) to the us?
almost identical to the fiesta st and all the rice boys would eat it up
We already have Golf gti's though...
Because the golf in the US is already four doors only, so why have a car that would cannibalize those sales and the flagshit of VW?
>>17145626
the polo is smaller ad lighter
>>17145628
the polo can be hd with 2 doors
Costs too much. They can't make any money on it in the US. The price of a polo GTI in Deutschland is almost the price of a Golf GTI here in the US.
>>17145628
>flagshit
Whooops
>>17145635
I know, but the point is that if they brought them to the US, the polo would be four door only, just like the Golf has been for the last few years.
And then it could cannibalize sales of the Golf GTI, and the Golf doesn't have any party tricks that really makes it better than the Polo in that situation. Unlike the Focus RS to the Fiesta ST
>>17145641
That's because Germany recieves German built Volkswagens (for the most part) and German labor is expensive. Most VW sold in the US are built in Mexico or in the US itself utilizing cheaper labor. A North American Polo would probably be built in Mexico and thus cheaper than a Euro Polo.
>>17146694
I would never buy a mexican made car. Disgusting
>>17145646
>and the Golf doesn't have any party tricks that really makes it better than the Polo in that situation. Unlike the Focus RS to the Fiesta ST
Shit retards say.
Show me the production Polo R.
>>17146755
Well good for you, but about 25% of the cars sold here are Mexican so the average consumer would. It's completely viable for VW to do so.
Didn't they sell Polos in the US a couple of years back branded as Rabbits ??
>>17147279
No. The US Market Rabbits were rebadged Mk1 and MK5 Golfs.
>>17146694
The real reason is that yuros tax cars to shit
>>17147296
It's both actually. Euro labor costs are still a big dent in profitability. That's why Mercedes, BMW and VAG have shifted a lot of production bases from Germany to South Africa and Mexico for US market products.
>>17145592
Small cars are a hard case to make profitable and the Crossovers are making all the money right now anyways.
Volkswagen would be stupid to add another car to their lineup right now until their demand rises again.
>>17147447
They're going to be offering a Polo/Golf based crossover in the US soon and VW has hinted at a performance variant.
>>17145592
I would honestly trade in Veloster for a Polo if it were available in the states and came with all that driver assistance tech.
>>17145646
>Flagshit
>Whoops
No, I think it works lol
>>17145635
"smaller" and "lighter" are not really selling points over here
I'd bet if they made a bigger golf with a v6 it'd be much more popular than a polo
Too expensive to federalise a cheap car so it meets your ass backward regulations
