They fabricate replacement batteries that are cheaper than factory. You can get a 2 year warranty. It's about $2,000.00. Then you need to find a shop willing to install it (you need special tools), so add about $200, plus you need the dealer to push some magical switch, add $150.

The third battery was replaced under warranty by Bumblebee. I don't want to get to the end of the next two years, given that the other one didn't last the first two.

Bought car at 80k with original factory battery.

Replaced factory battery at about 135k, in 2015 (so 9 years after purchased) with Bumblebee.

Did not want to pay for a 10 year battery on a subcompact with 135k miles, so bought bumblebee.

Bumblebee replaced in 2016 at about 150k.

I don't think you understand the difference between parts cost and their warranty. I paid less for a shorter warranty, because I don't intend to own the car that much longer. That is why this thread exists.

The next customer might not know about battery problems and assume replacement packages use discount generic batteries from china. The chinese sell new batteries that aren't even new, but have recycled parts from discarded used batteries.

Some of the flashlight forums exposed some of the problems with chinese-made "new" Li-Ion batteries. The only thing new about them was that they had new badging on top of the old used battery.
