Still been trying to fix an issue with hesitation, and rpm nosediving during cold starts.
Seems like it goes away after the car warms up though so I guess that's a plus.

I went and got a cheap torque wrench and vacuum gauge at harbor freight today. I think I got the wrong kind of gauge though, cause mine doesn't have a hand pump at all. Fugn rip.

Word up nigs,

So I copied a map from jewtube and my Del Sol runs a lot better now, supposed 180hp.
It all runs smoother, faster than before and the fuel seems to be going a little bit faster.
This is with a cat and a shit backbox.
It was suppose to be on a dyno with a d-cat and new spoon N1 box last week, but now I have to wait another few weeks.

This map works if anyone has a b16a
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0Nxa0xKU1Q

Anyone have any idea where I can get other maps from?

I'm going to data log two half hour drives tonigh and see what how everything looks, read up on fuel loads and ignition timing, or is there no point doing this without a full wideband sensor?

Pic how I felt when my alternator gave up on my Skoda the other day and left me 40 minutes from home.
>>

fast idle valve on the throttle body, lets additional air through when cold.

The valve is held open by a wax ball, when the coolant passing through it gets hot enough the wax melts and the valve closes causing the idle to drop to normal.

Only the Hondata forum and there are none on there, I'm not really one for social media though and it's a bit old school these days in the UK, everyones buying new Fiestas or Corsas, the tuning scene has really died off and there's not a great honda scene either.

You're better off getting the V6 for that, yes the J35 is old technology with that SOHC timing belt setup, but it's fast, amd a high hp K24 build is costly.

Just depends on what you want.

If you ever need maps, go here:
http://twiki.pgmfi.org/bin/view.pl/Library/EcuDefinitionCodes

As a general rule, if your car is less restrictive you are going to run leaner. If you don't have a wideband you can tune a little bit by feel but don't get crazy.

I wouldn't fuck with the ignition timing unless you absolutely know it's not going to be an issue. Don't tune for knock and you should really use a dyno. The only exception is if there are dips in the timing map (like on the stock P72 map) and you fill them in a couple degrees at a time. (It helps if your ecu has a knock board that you can look at as well)
>>
>>17119276
I'm willing to bet it's not a vacuum leak. Vacuum leaks typically don't care about engine temp

What's the limits on the stock P28? I revved to 7500 a few days ago but didn't hit the limiter and I haven't tried the top speed yet.
>>
>>17119490
the crome basemap for a p28 is at 7411 RPM. Wikipedia says 7400 for fuel cut

Is your tachometer just inaccurate past a certain RPM?
>>
>>17119490
Also are you sure it's stock? have you opened it up yet?
>>
>>17119525
It might be inaccurate, I didn't check what it actually was on Hondash. I think it's more inaccurate at lower RPMs (idling) and more accurate at higher.

>>17119531
I need to pop it open and check it later. It's been raining all day so I'm probably not going anywhere today.
>>
>>17119484
>>17119419
Mind you I need the sedan, already have a J32 TL and im sick of Honda V6 ATs and timing belts. Could I realistically get another 50 hp FBO+tune? 200 would be okay, ill take low 14s
>>
>>17119542
I took the d16a1 in my orange CRX to redline when I bought it (because burnout) and it was bouncing off the tach at like 8500. In reality the fuel cut is around 7500. Hondash should tell the truth

So you'd look at timing in these areas
Typically honda detunes around 1500 and less so that parking lots are more manageable.

you could try a couple of degrees of timing and just flatten the timing out so it doesnt have steps in it.

I don't have my other maps on this computer but I think I added about 3 degrees below 1k rpm pretty much across the board

Again though, playing with timing without a dyno or a reliable way to detect knock is dangerous

Apart from normal shit like rust, it's just the heart of an RSX non type-s, open the oil cap and see if it's going POOF POOF POOF POOF, a poor man's compression test like that can give you an idea of how worn it is, timing chain is not an issue which is awesome.

Go for it anon! I love mine (picked it up with 102k, she's up to about 123 now). Mine's been trouble free aside from a couple of minor things (idler pulley went, but that was only $80 and about an hour of work, some rust on the subframe that the previous owner had fixed before I bought it, 2nd gear synchro is a little sketchy but I'm not trying to slam shift the thing so it's fine).

Hard to resist the urge to mod stuff though. I picked up a type-R spoiler in the same color (clearcoat is peeling off of mine), and I might put some RPF1s on it if I can find them for cheap, but other than that I wanna keep it stock for reliability/resale. It's tempting to go out looking for a k20a2 to drop into it though...

Try goodwill/savers/etc
Depending on the area there can be good shit for cheap. I got a nice lacoste jacket for 8 bucks. Almost brand new, only been died in once

Also I know the feel about money going quickly. Bought enough stuff to chip and vtec 10 ecus (and have a few leftover parts) and it was $125.15. And that's with recycling the high side switches from automatic ecus. There goes all my recent profit

Those drawers really helped. Put my frequently worn clothes and shorts in them. Went from three laundry baskets to just one where I keep the stuff I'm not wearing at this time of the year.

Hopefully they carry my size. I was surprised to find size 36 shorts at Wal-Mart. I only need to spend around $100 on the hatch anyway so I should be good after that.

On the day you put the o2 sensor in:
Reset the ecu by pulling the fuse and waiting 15~ seconds
Start car and let it idle without doing anything for 60 seconds

Now that the ECU has the o2 it has to relearn idle! So don't forget

Holy fuck, what car?

New to cars. '03 RSX S. I changed the front brake pads, put some grease on where the pads meet the retainer and where the caliper touches the pads.

Car hasn't run in 6 years, don't know how long any fluids have been changed before that. Do I need to bleed the brakes and put new fluid in? 1 quart is $15, more expensive than oil, same with power steering fluid. Old pads were messed up, uneven wear on both sides, but driver side was ground down to metal. Will post a pic later. Checked the rear brakes and they had as much material on them as the front so I don't think I need to change them.
>>
>>17124571
If the power steering/brake fluids are up to level and not dirty, they're still good to go, especially if everything's working okay.
>>
REEEEEEEEEE why does nobody make positive displacement superchargers for B16 anymore? I don't want a centrifugal supercharger just because it doesn't look as sexy as roots type.
>>
>>17124576

Fluids are up to level and don't seem dirty. Brakes seem noticeably longer when foot on brake. Do they just need to wear in some until they work better?

The only kit was Jackson Racing (which pop up on ebay time to time, there's two for B16 up now) and they had no ability to be intercooled. Blower and intake were all one piece. You might be able to make your own using a 4AGZE supercharger and plenty of planning/fabrication since they are both 1.6L engines and the 4AGZE was intercooled from the factory.
>it doesn't look as sexy as roots type
I assume you're talking about Kraftwerks who keeps everything hidden down by the headers.
Pic related is Vortech's old centrifugal supercharger and I think it looks mad sexy.

Gonna be looking at a fifth generation Honda Accord LX for $500. Owner is my co-worker, who got it free from his uncle who had it for years.

Don't know the mileage yet, but the car is in decent shape both inside and out. Two small dents on the driver side, a little dirty inside and outside, no visible rust that I could see from a first glance, don't know about the undercarriage. Engine bay looks fairly okay with a few things looking rusty, might be surface rust, don't know. Sounds great and is a manual, even a clean title.

However the major problem that he knows if is a slightly bent crankshaft.

So with that problem in mind, is the car still worth it for $500?

Car has an ebay CAI on it. I'm sure anything would be better than what was on it. Intakes are pretty expensive, but maybe you can get any old cheap pipe and clamp it on. I got lucky and was offered one.

I did learn that my old normal metal pipe with a filter on it does not compare at all to an AEM V2. The AEM makes some crazy noises at high RPM and even humming/whistling noises at idle.

I'll leave a reminder and post it when I learn about it. He's always sending me updates on it. So excited to take it for a spin.

He's even got a custom made pipe for it that will suck up all the coldest air from the front. I'm curious on what the intake temps will be on Hondash in comparison to mine. It's obviously gonna be colder but I'm not sure how much colder.
>>
>>17128626
Fugg I guess I'll have to get scammed with the k&n one then.
>>
>>17128603

I'm not actually sure if it's a random eBay intake. I'm just assuming so because it had a ractive superflow air filter on it. I'll see if I can get a pic of the intake in the morning.

Can't really see it, but essentially just a long 3 inch pipe with a filter down behind the fog light. I had to change filters temporarily and whatever I did moved the intake and it hit against the gear shift and I couldn't push into any forward gears. Had to fool around with it a bit, still not as smooth as it was before.

Hey guys. I'm in the market for a new car. I've decided that I wanted to get a newer Civic Si. I was looking for what you guys would consider to be the best "modern" one year wise. My personal favorite is and always will be the gen 6 as I had one back when I first started driving, and I wanna go back to that but I haven't kept up with Honda as much until I heard of the new Type-R but that is sadly outside my price range and I need a new car pretty soon

I'm looking for something hopefully 2012 or beyond, my price range is around 15k. Suggestions as far as a year on the Si trim?

you don't sand it until it's bright its nearly impossible. you sand it to about 2500 or 3k grit and you fill it in with clear paint or I've heard of people doing floor sealer and a light buff.
>>
>>17135922

I sanded it to a uniform haze, then used a compound, wiped it down, then used a spray wax and buffed.
>>
>>17134744
do a block test. it tests for hyrdrocarbons in the coolant. from all the bubbles in your coolant in your vid I'm gonna tell you bro, the verdict doesn't look good.

>tfw you can do a d series headgasket in 45 minutes

>>
>>17135922
Some floor sealer is basically clear. Best thing for headlights is the pledge clear that some plastic modelers use. Clear works for protection of plastic thus keeping clearity of sanded space. Some have a clear coat stock on plastic headlights so after cleaning it with something and sanding with high grits you can buffer and polish for it to be restored.
>>17135983
Basically this. It works as long as there was clear coat on plastic from the start and gives decent results.

I watched my uncle do it so it doesn't look too bad but I'm concerned about the head since even after the gasket change I still had coolant loss issues. Wasn't being pushed out by exhaust gases but just emptying itself out over time with no visible leaks. Isn't in the oil either.

So I just need that block tester and the fluid for it?
>>
Bump for fresh bread
>>
>>17137536
Yes. Just need the testing fluid and the giant turkey baster looking thing. With that much gas in your coolant its kind of a no brainer but just to verify go ahead and do it. The fluid will change color with the presence of hydrocarbons (exhaust gases)
>>
>>17137588
I don't think overheating that one time could have done it. I'm guessing my head or block needs to be machined? Last night the needle didn't even max out.
>>
>>17137615
there's a good chance the head was warped when you put the last gasket on. Also the Honda temperature dash gauge isnt linear. If your needle is at 3/4 or more you're running HOT. enough to cause warping.
>>
>>17137660
Yeah I was watching Hondash which gives an actual number. It maxed at around 232F and hovered in the high 220s.
>>
>>17137668
Kind of a tough call. You won't know until you block test. Once you get an answer then if you need to take the head off go ahead and either have it deckedat a machine shop or you can go old school with a large piece of glass or mirror covered in sandpaper. Looks janky but works. I did it to a 94 escort that still runs around town.
>>
>>17137695
Just talked to my buddy and he's willing to help me with it. Is there any chance the block would need machining?
>>
>>17137712
unlikely. the block can absorb a lot more heat than the head. take a straightedge to it though to be sure. maximum allowance is 0.002 with a feeler gauge. check the head like this too.
