all routes are closed in and out of my village because of it.
6000 cunts in lycra will have the roads closed from 9am to 5pm or thereabouts(probably later) on both the saturday and sunday.

I've recently had a discussion about this at work - here in Croatia at least, the cyclists are the fucking aristocracy. Absolutely zero laws ever apply to cyclists. When you own a car you are heavily restricted in so many ways, traffic regulations, speed limits, safety and technical inspections, etc.

Bicycles on the other hand are the fucking wild west. There are no decent cycling paths in croatian cities, so nobody will ever restrict cyclists to use them. I think the law states that all cyclists should in lieu of cycling paths use the roads like any other vehicle, but nobody ever enforces that. If you ride a bicycle in Zagreb, for instance, you can do anything. Sprint down the sidewalk as you please, wear a helmet or not, pop out on the road as you see fit, ride in the opposite direction in a one-way street, on the tram/bus lane, ride through pedestrian zones, on the wrong side of the road, over green surfaces, etc., and being a cyclist, I do almost all of that, but still have some common sense and do not want to block other people.

And that's all on top of not having to have any insurance, absolutely zero technical regulations to fulfill, no inspections or anything... Add an electric booster and you have yourself the ultimate city vehicle.
