Have you ever seen someone on the side of the road with car issues and stopped by to help them?
>>
>>17082544
Nah. I usually just drive past and laugh.

Why risk getting stabbed or shot?
>>
>>17082544
Only in parking lots

Not gonna stop while on the road just cause some faggot is stuck there
>>
>>17082544
Someone faps to this, don't they.
>>

This
>>
>>17082590

I somehow ran across a video of some girl stuck in a mud pit with some muscle car. All she is doing is revving it out for a while, then she gets out and "sexily"tries to push it, then gets back inside and revs it out some more, next thing you know she takes off her shoe and there is a close up of her dirty ass foot massaging the gas pedal while the engine bounces off a limiter.

This was a couple years ago and it still screws up my head.

I think it even triggered a foot phobia that I now have.
>>
>>17082544
I'll help if I'm walking past someone who's stuck or has a flat tire, but I wouldn't stop if I was driving. I'll go out and help my friends if they're stuck on the roadside somewhere though.
>>
>>17082544
That's not suitable attire for those weather conditions.
>>
>>17082544
Last week a girl was stuck in the middle of a busy road so I pulled up and asked if she wanted me to push her to the side of the road. When I was pushing her car 3 people yelled "that's so nice" to me so I asked her how long she had been stuck and she said 20 minutes. Fucking people man, I ran out of gas and it took 2 hours for my friend to come and not one person stopped. Should have tried to get that chicks number though she was a cutie and she said she called her sister not her bf
>>
Only when walking. Pretty fun walking up and giving somebody stuck in the snow a shove.

How do you even live with yourself?
>>
A while back I accidentally let my battery die while waiting for a train, and of the hundred or so people behind me, nobody stopped to help. I had to push my car off the road by myself while people were honking and shouting abuse at me.

I was really lucky though because the guy from the gas station up the road noticed I was sitting on the shoulder and came over with his own truck and gave me a jump start. :)
>>
>>17082689
As an actual footfag, I will never understand pedal pumping (yes it has a name, there are multiple entire websites for this shit). They try to make hitting a gas pedal erotic but all they really accomplish is taking standard porn overacting and focusing it down to a single body part for way too long.
The cars don't even sound good.
>>
I don't help people.
No one helped me.
>>
>>17082544
I gave somebody a jump in a parking lot once

but I'm not going to pull over to the side of the expressway and help somebody
>>
>>17082544
Usually not for cars but if its a motorcycle ill stop. Ive had people stop for me with bike troubles but never car, so I return the kindness.
>>
Saw a girl's tire disintegrate while she was driving, I knew she was going to be fucked since we were pretty far from anything so I took the next exit and swung back around to find her on the side of the road. She had no idea that her tread had peeled off or where her spare tire was. Any other time I've stopped, the people said they already had help so I left.
>>
>>17082750
i drove with a ratchet set in the trunk for a dew days and I couldn't handle the sound of that jingling around and sliding back and forth
>>
I live in a safe as fuck city so I do all sorts of weird shit.

I helped some dude who got stuck in a roundabout push his car into a parking lot.

I also once gave an hour and a half lift to someone to get home who was pinging out their mind.

yes, I regularly stop to give rides to gas stations, or up the road, or to just check on people.

I made a promise to a family that helped me 10 years ago when I ran out of fuel about 15 miles from the next pump ( i had just gone through 110 miles without a single filling station). The local catholic church actually turned me away saying they could not help, it was the first place I tried (and where my car coasted to a stop...in their parking lot), before walking through the town.

I tried to pay them and they refused. That Family gave me 10 gallons of fuel, and 10 bucks to finish filling it up and get food at the station. They asked me only that "You do the same for the next person you see in need".

Ive probably given 50 people rides since then, ive paid for people to eat, and ive stopped and chatted/stayed with people until someone came to help them/ tow them.

Ive never been harmed, held up, or really felt threatened. Its my version of pay-it-forward

"community" is a white cultural phenomena.
Remove the white -> remove the community.

They can walk their ass to a cell tower. It's not worth the risk unless you live in a 90% white area.

I was on my way back from the track once and I had my 1/2" electric impact, bunch of sockets, some other tools and a nice 2-ton jack in the back. just so happened to see a middle-aged lady on the highway trying to change a flat on her Hyundai. I pulled over and asked her if she needed help and she was like "yes! I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing" so I get over to her car and she's got the scissor jack set up on the gravel and it's pushing itself into the ground rather than lift the car up. I had the wheel off of the car in about a minute, and then picked up the spare that was leaning on the bumper and asked her if she had ever checked the pressure in it. and she says "I dunno, do they do that when they change my oil?" I said "not likely, it's completely flat" and she starts losing her shit and swearing, wondering how she's gonna make it somewhere to fill it up and I just walked back to my truck and grapped my portable compressor/jumper pack, look back at her and I still remember the look on her face. she was absolutely dumbfounded. I filled her tire up, bolted it on and she tells me that I'm an angel, and right as I'm about to leave another car pulls up behind her. I figured it was someone else stopping to try to help, but then she goes "ah holy shit I totally forgot I called my boss!" so he had driven down to help her for absolutely nothing, but then she bummed a $20 off of him to give me because she didn't have any cash.

actually thought of another incident. I grew up in Wisconsin and we had family that we would visit in Iowa on the holidays, and on Christmas Eve day I was on my way there in my Jeep with my sister. we were on a country highway and saw an old full-size van sitting on on a scissor jack with a wheel missing, and a trailer behind it, and nobody in sight. a few miles later we stop at a gas station. my sister goes in to buy coffee while I start pumping fuel, and this guy comes up to me and explains that the he was the owner of the van down the road, he had gotten a flat and went to change it and found that his spare was flat. he rolled it the entire distance to the gas station but the wind was picking up and it was really cold and he asked if there was any chance that I could give him a lift back to his van. so I told him sure and then I look toward the store and see my sister holding the door open for a lady that happened to be the guy's wife. so I throw his spare in the back, and the two of them get in the back seat. while we're driving he offers me some rolled up cash and I told him not to worry about it and that I was happy to help. I stopped in front of his van, helped him get the wheel on and tightened down and he shook my hand, his wife gave me a hug and we wished each other safe travels and were on our way. a little bit down the road and sees that the guy had left not one but two $100 bills on the back seat.

From previous experience? Which tools would you wish to have had in that moment? What tools should you always carry? What extra tools should you carry? I got a tool box on my truck that I want to have fully stocked with everything necessary.

>implying I weigh my car down with unnecessary garbage

>>
>>17083330
Outside of odd specialty things I thought I might need, a basic socket set and some c-wrenches have done the most for me. Of course tire pump, flashlight, knife, pliers, screwdriver, paracord, etc. as well.

>tfw lost my first laptop to using the screen as a flashlight and it popped out of the engine bay when I got the engine started and it shattered
that was dumb
>>
>>17083330
Besides pliers, screwdrivers, etc. a cheap torque wrench would be nice to have. I hate helping someone change a tire and then worrying about not tightening the nuts enough.
>>
>>17082544
Yea, one time I saw a guy walking a bike down the side of a road at night so I pulled over to help. Just ran out of gas and he was only about 1/4 of a mile from a gas station so i let him go.
>>
I have a few times... and unfortunately when it's a woman, I typically drive by, pulled over on two occasions to help a woman change a tire and they acted so out of sorts like i was going to kidnap them... (Also i'm a business casually dressed, clean shaven individual, pulling up in a Lincoln Zephyr, not looking like a gang member or biker) "my boyfriend is coming any time now, hes in the army and very strong" as shes stuttering and backing away from me...

So I got sick of being treated like a psychopath, and wish them the best as I drive by them..

THE WASHINGTON POST: A man stopped to help two teens pull an SUV from a ditch. Then, they allegedly killed him.

Authorities in South Carolina said two teenagers have been arrested on murder charges after one of them allegedly shot and killed a man who had just helped them pull an SUV from a roadside ditch.

Michael Odell Anthony Dupree-Tyler, 19, and Deon Antonio Frasier, 17, were denied bond on Tuesday in the shooting incident, which occurred Monday night in North Charleston.

Police said a witness asked the victim, later identified as Chadwick Garrett, to help the teens pull a 2016 Dodge Durango from a ditch along a narrow road.

North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said in a statement that officers arrived at the scene about 11 p.m. Monday and found the victim lying on the roadway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“During the investigation, it was learned that the victim was assisting two black males in pulling a Dodge Durango out of the ditch,” Pryor said in the statement, which was emailed to The Washington Post. “After the victim got the vehicle out of the ditch the two suspects then robbed and shot the victim.”

After the shooting, a woman from the apartment where the suspects live called police and said the two teens had taken her SUV without permission. She gave a description of the vehicle as well as of Dupree-Tyler and Frasier, according to documents cited by the Charleston Post and Courier.

“With all due respect to the family, they coming at me the wrong way because I haven’t murdered anyone,” Dupree-Tyler said, according to the newspaper.

There was a guy stuck in the wendy's parking lot one time I was there for a bite, and I offered to help. He declined, didn't even thank me for the offer. He passed up on a guy who happened to have a full set of tools and jumper cables in his car at the time.

Story about the hitch hiker?
>>
I was driving to my buddies place and saw this lady on the side of the road in an RX-8 with a blown tire.

I'm in my NC miata, so I figure why not help out a fellow Mazda owner.

Change her tire, and while speaking with her, I found out she's the wife of a dealership owner I bought my Miata from.

Tell her that I bought it a few months ago. She asked for my name and phone number and I get a call later that day from the owner.

He told me he would let me have any Mazdaspeed accessory I wanted with install included. Told him that it wasn't neccessary, but insisted to reward me for helping his wife.

I got an AEM/Mazdaspeed intake. He personally watched over the install and had the master tech explain to me how to get to the filter if I needed to change it, how it would effect the cars performance.

They even rotated the tires and changed my oil just before they buttoned everything up.

Needless to say I was very grateful. The dealership owners name his Bob, btw. Nice guy. He likes miatas.

Yesterday night at like 2 am I stopped to get some gas on a /nightdrive/ at a shady gas station in my college town. A huge red rusted van pulled up and a black started talking to me (red flag). He had wild eyes and started off by saying some stuff about his pregnant wife in the car and their gas nozzle not working. I said I didn't know shit about cars and he could get help inside the gas station. He then asked if I had any money and I said no, and then he asked if I had any cigarettes.

Fucking blacks, they never want actual help, they just want money. God dammit
>>
>normal European plates
Sure, I'll try to help in any way I can. The few times I've helped people who had breakdowns I've been able to get it going again through pure luck of it being stupidly simple problems (battery terminals come loose, flat tires, hood came loose and needed a strap over it)

No, because by the time I've stopped safely, it'll be a 10 minute walk to get back to them.

I've helped a colleague in the car park after work, though. And I'd stop for a fallen biker; I owe the community that after someone stopped for me when I fell off mine.
>>
>>17087555
The variation is when they try to have any excuse to start talking to you. In your case, it was his gas nozzle not working. Over here, after the conversation starts, it immediately heads to the "Stop disrespecting me!" phase where he accuses you so that he now has an excuse to assault you. The purpose of the assault is to grab stuff off your body such as wallet, phone, and car/house keys. If he gets caught, charges are typically lessened because you taunted him to rile him up. Sure, you didn't do any of that, but the dindu robber uses that tactic on you to decrease or avoid being charged.

I've only ever helped people pull people that stuck in snow on the side of the road. Happened three times and another where the lady and her son decided to wait 2 hours for a tow truck they called instead.

>>17093564
>he doesn't have the common courtesy to get off the highway and CLOSE HIS FUCKING door.
He's flustered and so he stopped thinking beyond the fact that his car is "Parked". Since he may normally open his door fully and leave it open when parked, he's not thinking beyond that. Parked = Door Open. Car is not moving, therefore it is "parked".

What's not to like is streetside parking where drivers suddenly open their door into traffic. Almost no one does that, but several weeks ago, I had a close call when some guy (not a female driver) simply opened his door and I had to slam my brakes. That totally SUCKS because I am on the insurance rate discount plan where bad driving causes the discount to go away. Sudden braking, speeding, driving between midnight and 4AM, and hooning counts negatively.

Good one

I stopped in a blizzard to tow a guy out of the side of the road. He was in a Suburban, I had a 4x4 Tundra with snow tires and locking diffs. It was snowing like the dickens and he was buried pretty good. Couldn't get him out and I snapped my rope when I went for a running start.
Wasn't a very good rope.

Funny thing is that very morning I took a 75' section of 15000 lb bull rope out of my truck because I had it in there for five years and never needed it. Finally decided to leave it in the garage.

Anyway he probably died.

During the Snowpocalypse of 2014 here in Michigan, I was coming home from work (in my ’95 Chevy S-10) and some chick had taken a corner wide in slid in the deep snow up the curb.

I tried pushing her out but in the end, had to dig her out (kept a coal shovel in the back) before she could get going.

She was grateful and the next thing I know, she’s inviting me back to her place. So I follow her back and when we get inside, she lights some candles and ask me if I’d like a drink, to which I readily agree.

Well, things started moving faster that point and we’re groping and stumbling our way back to the bedroom, when I hear the front door open and a man’s voice call out; “honey, I’m home!”.

Needless to say, I was freaked out! I was hopping about trying to get dressed while desperately looking for an avenue of escape, as I could hear the guy coming down the hall and with no other option, I jumped into the closet.

And just in time, as this huge bruiser of a man stomps into the bedroom, whereupon he sees his wife sprawled out on the bed half undressed and immediately jumps in bed with her and they start going it at!

I figure this is my chance and c a r e f u l l y open the closet door and start tip-toeing out, when I step on a God damned Lego and this causes me to lose my balance and bang into the bedroom door.

Of course the bruiser husband turns around and we kinda stare at each other for what seems like hours, until I grab the knob and run.

Or at least I tried running, because the fucking door knob comes off right in my hand!

I fall back flat on my ass, which was a stroke of luck, as just at that moment, the bruiser launched himself off the bed and tripped over my flailing legs and crashed head first into the closet, allowing me a second or two to jam the door knob back on and race down the hallway and out the door.

I miss that S-10.

Most people have roadside assistance with their auto insurance or they drive a GM car. Most new cars don't even have a spare tire space.

Also when a person begs for gas money in a parking lot and they are like 100 miles away from where they live than don't have the money to get back then it is entirely their fault and none of your problem. Otherwise if they do live less than 5 miles and are in the gas station pump blocking your way than just give them $2 to fuck off so they can just buy more weed instead of actual gas or some shit.

Here in washington state, the county government subsidizes bus passes for the poor and homeless. And they can even apply for the free bus passes at the public library events. So it's pretty hard for them to ask for transportation money or gas money.

Seattle and Renton don't prosecute that type of panhandling, so you see it in various store and plaza parking lots. Bellevue, Kent, and Tukwila police try to stop that with citations, so that type of aggressive panhandling is rare there.

To me, panhandling is an excuse for them to get close to you for a potential mugging, so I keep my distance and keep the car locked in case they make a dash to it to try to grab something out of it and run.

No, taxes stimulate charity because charity remains tax exempt. What kills charity is GREED. The greedier the person is, the less they are willing to donate to charity. So it's not taxes, it is personal greed that kills charity.

Taxation definitely reduces charitable giving. If the government is already taking your money to give out in welfare, why should you be expected to bear even more of a burden by giving away what you have left?

>While many factors certainly infuence an individual’s choice about donatng to charity, there are broad policy choices that can encourage higher rates of growth in charitable giving. By examining various tax burdens and tax rates with rigorous economic analysis, this paper’s research fndings show that a 1 percent increase in the personal income tax burden is associated with 0.35 percent decrease in charitable giving per dollar of state income. Similarly, this State Factor found that an increase in personal income tax burden of roughly 1 percentage point of total state income results in a roughly 0.10 percentage point decrease in the level of measured charitable donatons as a percent of income.
>When all state taxes are considered, a 1 percentage point increase in the total tax burden is associated with a 1.16 percent drop in charitable giving per dollar of state income. Similarly, this State Factor found that an increase in total tax burden of roughly 1 percentage point of total state income results in a roughly 0.09 percentage point decrease in the level measured charitable donatons as a percent of income.

That's not legal to do in my state. Only approved methods of towing are allowed on public roads.

And if he hit his brakes, you effectively rear ended him. There's no end to idiots out there. Besides, your license plate on the front would get smashed along with the cellular bumper materials many use. Even if you wanted to, you probably can't push his car without permanently damaging your bumper materials.

Nowadays, not everyone is happy to see others stopping. The last time I ever tried to help, it was like what did you stop here for? I had the feeling that I might get shot from them having a panic attack. Gun owner paranoia I guess. Some people buy a weapon out of paranoia and I unluckily ran into one of those. After that negative experience, I never stopped to help anyone again. That was over 10 years ago, but I will not risk my life again. They can call AAA or friends now on their cellphone. It's not like the "old days" where no mobile communications existed and people really did need the help of strangers stopping. Nowadays, sans cellphone, they just press their OnStar button, Honda Help, or other button used by Lexus, etcetera.
