Anyone else just not really that interested in supercars?

I was watching Rob Spaghetti's video on his Ferrari 488 where he was near crying it was so good. Maybe you need to drive it to understand, but all I see is a bland looking car that sounds pretty boring and has an autobox. Maybe I have autism.
>>
>>17065944

Yeah.
Not because they suck or are expensive.
I appreciate manufacturers that can make cars across the spectrum using what they have and making it great.
>>
they are too advanced now desu

I don't really have any interest in 600 hp automatic cars full of driver aids.
>>
>>17065944
>Maybe I have autism.
yeah...
>>
>>17065944

Big surprise, poor /o/ busriders are not interested in things they will never even be within 10' of in their lifetime.

In other news, the sky is blue.
>>
>>17065944
>automatic
Riveting!
>>
>>17065963
This.
>>
>>17065976
Wouldn't busriders be the type to be easily wowed by flashy cars like that?
>>
>>17065944
They are cool but even if I had one I would be afraid to drive it because a scratch would be devastating let alone an accidnet.

Plus you'd feel like a retard doing anything but tracking it.
>>
>>17065944
I like understated cars, so they don't really appeal to me. Nice to look at and hear when you occasionally see one go past, but I would never own one if I was in the position to spend that much on a car. My ideal car would be something like a de badged M5 in a neutral colour - fast, practical, comfy, looks good but not flashy, and drives well. I would have one over a Ferrari any day.

I can see why people like them though
>>
>>17066015
>because a scratch would be devastating

When you have one, I expect you to be comfortable to not care about petty shit.
>cheap is relative
>>
>live in vancouver
>see any of the latest and greatest supercars within several months of release
>see them on an almost daily basis
>give zero fucks

Classics turn my head though. There's a couple Testarossas kicking around, and I saw a RS2 the other day.
>>
>>17066020
Sure but repair costs even for minor shit is going to way higher than a normal car.
>>
>>17066040
If you can afford a super car, it's probably a non-issue
>>
You rarely see base model supercars, and will probably never see the really expensive ones (unless you live in Dubai or Vancouver maybe). You'll never be able to afford one unless you get lucky or are born into wealth, meaning the only way to drive one is to rent one out at a track with an instructor who holds your hand the entire way.

Horsepower numbers are also getting really boring, especially when you can just throw a shitload of turbo boost or displacement at the problem.
>>
>>17066020
That isn't the case at all, the idea that everyone who buys exotics has endless money and doesn't care about it is not reality. It's like saying "well you have a 10k car, 2k is nothing to you." Lots of people stretch their finances to buy them, especially used ones. If someone finances a 355 for $90k they know it's likely to at least hold it's value if not go up, but these people would not otherwise be buying a $90k new car like a 6 series because they financially would be unable to take the depreciation hit.

>>17066040
For just scratches/dents the cost isn't that different from a "normal" car
>>
>>17065944
>maybe i have autism

you do have autism
>>
>>17066040
>>17066050

That's what I'm saying.
Broke ass don't buy expensive shit you can't afford to fix, duh.
Didn't your father teach you nothin?
>>
>>17065963
>they are too advanced now desu

And it makes them a bitch to maintain. Every last one of them is a money pit worth more in parts than as a whole.

And for what? So a bunch of fucking princesses can drive 700-HP cars with computer-controlled nerfing to keep them from killing themselves?

>>17065976
Not OP, but upercars are so mass-produced now that I barely even give a second look when seeing one now. What used to make them special is no one had one; now every youtube "star" has one. I know the makers try to manufacture a sense of exclusivity with low-production special models, but still the whole concept of a supercar is being cheapened by making sure every spoiled slut and every Mohammed has one.

>>17066038
Thats because classics not raped and FUBAR'ed by hotrodders excuse me "resto-modders" are genuinely a lot more rare than a modern supercar is. I've seen more 458s, Californias, Gallardos, and Huracans in the past 5 years than I've seen original non-fagged "DUDE YOU KNOW STANCE" classics
>>
>>17066120
Last bit on classics is so true.

Prime example are older BMW M cars. Seems like a good 75% of them are either totally ruined or riced to fuck.
>>
>>17065944

Koenigsegg is the ugliest "supercar" to ever be made. And its doors look like they bought those retarded "Lambo door kits" that allowed retards to put "Lambo doors" on their PT cruisers 10 years ago.

Yet people are blowing their loads and their wallets at trying to get one just because it's rare and no one else has one.

>implying most supercars sound boring

I'd never buy one because 911 is bae (assuming we aren't calling 911s supercars), but OP has a bad case of special snowflake syndrome/poorfag cope.

What's so special about Vancouver? It's a literal cuck stronghold populated by beta numales. Why would it have anything in common with Dubai?
>>
>>17065944

I just remember one sunday while I was still in Viareggio, that a semen demon of Ainett Stephens was driving around with her fugly Lambo, ofc once you get past Lido di Camaiore traffic becomes a fucking jam with piled up Ferrari,Porsche and other average crap.

She stops as the jam was up all the way through the Darsena, comes out, people instantly ditches the Lambo and goes straight after her.Someone comes up with a generic muscle car from the 70s and parks it next to her car.A small crowd forms all around the muscle car,the Lambo was like kill me now and everyone else was blasting Ainett with sperm

>>
I'd love to own one.

Engineering behind them, history, presence, instant showing that you made it in life (typically), etc.

Plus, I don't think a highly modified car even compares to an exotic. Power delivery is different, feel, etc.

Even with those stupid autos, watching videos of a 991 GT3 w/ PDK ripping through those gears is amazing. How fast it switches gears and how that engine redlines at 9k is........holy shit.

I'd die to own a 991 GT3.

The Ferrari 488 GTB is not a supercar, it is just a sportscar.
>>
>>17066578

Same, the next (used) car I get will be a GT3 or Turbo (PDK). I have a high rev V8 (RS5 ~8.5k redline), but I think you need more open roads to enjoy the high revs. Where I live, the only place I can drive it safely away from cops is in windy roads where the roads stop having markings/paint on them. I can drive in 2nd/3rd gear at 6000+, but its hard to go over 70 mph (still 30 over the limit) in a lot of places.
>>
>>17066578
GT3 isn't a super car, its a highly refined sports car that is also great on the track

and neither is the GT3 RS, it's a straight track monster.

911 Turbo S on the other hand is a supercar

Add LA to that, I've seen pretty much every supercar under the sun at one point or another, even a few that aren't supposed to be street-legal in the US. (Veyron, Zonda, etc.) I'm a member of what basically amounts to a private rich guy supercar circklejerk FB group (thanks to working for a Porsche/BMW tuner) and those guys have all kinds of crazy shit, from legendary race cars to oddball supercars like Vectors and Cizetas and shit.

I have no interest in one. Unpractical, showy, "look at me" mobiles. in 90% of the cases it's a way for the rich to have a dick wagging contest with their fellow rich golf buddies. Most of them have no idea or don't care about the car's tech or capability.

Plus the styling now on supercars has left the realm of reality. The fucking Veyron and the like are so over-styled and pig ugly I wouldn't be seen in one.

Give me a Panamera to DD and a 911 R for weekends and I'm good. I'm done for $300K and I can put the other $700K that twats spend on supercars toward hookers and blow.
>>
I still like 80s supercars for their style but otherwise i see so many modern supercars Vegas that they've lost their mystique. And the owners of those are usually the "junior executive mid life crisis" type that just bought it in an attempt to fuck UNLV coeds and never take it above 120.

>>
Agreed, i am not really interested in 'supercars'

If you had one, there is no way you would be able to drive it to its potential. so you would have to track it, but even then -- if you were tracking a supercar, you would need years of experience to even start experiencing the limits of the car.

I really don't see the point, unless you are a race car driver, in which case, why even have fenders or a second seat? why not just drive an indy car and keep it on the track all the time?

I see some of these cars around town and I feel bad for the cars because they probably have never gone past 4th gear.

I can admire them at cars and coffee, but my BRZ is fun and easily daily drive-able. I'd enjoy maybe a Corvette someday, or a Caterham if I really could spend on a total toy.

There are plenty of subsections of the automotive world to enjoy, no need to fawn over supercars.

How much your parents pay for it?
>>
There's a few I like (Aventador, 918, 458) But I get a bigger hard on for modded 80's cars.
>>
>>17082159
Check and check
>>
>>17082758
You mean ruined 80s cars?
I get a bigger hard on for 80s stock supercars than modern ones for what it's worth.
>>
>>17065944
No, youre not the only one. Whenever I see a hyper or super car at something like cars and coffee I think about how that car spends most of its life in a hermetically sealed bubble and on life support. Its an expensive hotwheel for the owner to show off and say "Look how much moneh I made"
>>
>>17065944
I'm not interested in super cars in the slightest.
I'd be interested in seeing them ran hard on a track, but If I see one parked or on the street I don't really care. They are just too unobtainable.
I would definitely buy a 458 though and drive the piss out of it if I could afford to.

>not appreciating something because you can't own it
poorfag logic lol
I'm poor and can't afford one either but they're the pinnacle of automotive engineering and design. Just getting to look at them is a blessing already. I mean how can you not be in awe looking at an Italian exotic.
>>
>>17084212
I didn't say I don't appreciate them. I just don't watch videos about them or gawk at them. It's still a production car and in that sense not very interesting.

They aren't the pinnacle of anything. That's race cars.
>>
>>17084214
>They aren't the pinnacle of anything. That's race cars.
lol whatever you say pal
race cars aren't street legal and most can't attain the top speeds of supercars

you can get a modern literbike for 10k thats just as fast as any supercar, even on a 600 your plenty fast on the streets and it feels like you have a f1 car.

>>
>>17084232
Yes they are extremely impressive, but I don't wank over production cars. And definitely don't care about one parked in a parking lot. The 488 is appealing because it's reasonably priced. But, I don't sit around comparing exotics.
You could put 20k into an rsr and beat a 488 I just don't really see the point of jerking off to production cars.
>>
>>17084264
an rsr is an exotic too, besides you can drop 20k on the ferrari andthe rsr with 20k mods on it in the dust.
also most supercars aren't really production cars, they're closer to homologation specials
for example only 500 LaFerrari coupes were produced

Listen up you stupid faggot, no, you cucks aren't "as fast as a supercar", you're the ones who slow down cars in otherwise great spots such as the Alps.
>>
>>17084287
I wouldn't be interested in a stock rsr either.
I would be interested in an rsr with 20k in it though.

They just aren't very interesting. I love to listen to them, but outside of that, I don't know - just can't get into it.
Not enough to stand around looking at them anyway.

maybe with a motogp rider on it and not on a tight track. im not a bench racer, but stock m3's mop the floor with even above average riders on le ring. they arent even comparable in technology or speed - other than acceleration.

a modern literbike with traction control and abs, can negate alot of problems inherit with motorcycles on entrance and exit of corners, and give confidence to amateur riders.picking the right line in mid speed and high speed corners and your just as fast as any car. Low speed corners are the only place were a motorcycle is at a serious disadvantage
>>
>>17084365
> traction control and abs, can negate alot of problems inherit with motorcycles
Literally no. Like I said earlier stock M3s with above average drivers wipe the floor with above average riders on most tracks. They aren't even comparable.

There's a regular guy at a track day on youtube doing 1:35's at laguna with an e46 m3
That's only 10 seconds off the world super bike pole time.

I doubt a stock bike with slicks and an average rider could ever get within 15 seconds of a WSBK time.

I like reading about them, but I never get too invested in one because I will never ever be able to afford one. Realistically in my lifetime the best I could do is a Hellcat or a z06. Or something around those price points. But I'd most likely an older car and maybe restore it or mod it out.

I dislike the majority of modern supercars because, as others have said, they're computerized and filled with driver aids. I also shun them for the same reason I shun new Beemers and Mercs, the people who tend to own them are generally lacking in taste and manners and I'd like to avoid the stigma that comes with driving one.

a few of them do get my dick pretty hard though, I wait patiently for the day when a Noble M600 sits in my garage.
