Simple majority is not the best way to do things. If this were the case all a politician would have to do is pander to select cities across the U.S. and do fuck all for everyone else. New York, California, and Florida would be the only states that politicians pay attention to, and all federal tax would be channeled to those states to keep them happy and voting for the sitting president.
