Do any of you faggots know how a automotive racing helmet differs from a motorcycle helmet when it comes to fitment? My new Zamp car racing helmet feels like it sits super high up compared to my motorcycle helmet. I don't know if thats normal, if this just doesn't fit me correctly, or what
I would guess it's partly to do with airflow. You don't need the helmet to be low and aerodynamic in a car.
all i know OP is that auto racing helmets have to be at least snell 2010 approved, which most motorcycle helmets are not. different safety standards and flame-resistance requirements. visor openings also dont have to be as large, so might feel more restrictive than a bike helmet.
I'd always wondered what the difference was

Hmm thanks for this picture. It looks similar to my helmet. I'll see how it fits from the same angle

not as aerodynamic, likely flame resistant, impact protection requirements are different, dont look as cool

I can see the autism in those eyes boy

thats not a very nice thing to say. i was just trying to help OP.

Bike helmets are designed for one big impact, i.e. your head hitting the ground after you fall off your bike. They're also puncture-resistant, in case your head hits something pointy or something comes flying at you.
Car helmets are designed for multiple smaller impacts, i.e. your head bouncing around a rollcage. They're also more strict on fire resistance, as mentioned. They're not necessarily less aerodynamic either, formula car helmets are slippery as fuck.
With the exception of helmets meant for open-cockpit cars, auto helmets often sit higher than bike ones. They don't need to protect the underside of the chin from the elements or debris like a bike helmet does, and they're designed to leave room for those old-school foam "donut" neck protectors or a HANS system.
Open wheel car helmets are the same as road race motorcycle helmets.
The Arai GP-6 for instance is worn by both Formula drivers and Motogp riders.
I'm pretty sure there's no design difference between any snell helmet other than superficial things.

Motorcycle and auto helmets have different Snell standards (M2015 vs SA2015) with different testing procedures, so I'd assume there's some difference there, but maybe the newest helmets can pass both without issue.

So it just feels like it sits on my head very differently. Idk, it's not as "filling" as my motorcycle helmet but in this picture I guess it looks like it's fitting as it should

I've found the opposite, My Racing helmet is more restrictive in movement compared my motorcycle helmet, the bottom of the helmet flares out instead of in.

This is the exact right answer.
