I knew I should have gotten my 18-wheeler license of that province-wide reknown driving school, would have been much easier, and free too.

Hopefully GardaWorld hires me.

It's like that in the US too. If you're gonna go for the B, might as well put in the extra effort for the A. Lots of Class B jobs still want you to have a Class A and it opens up way more opportunities.

Québec. It costed me 1700ish for the Class 3, but if I went to that driving school I was talking about for the Class 1, it would have been a Professional Degree, and thus I would have had it for free along with all of the other licenses, instead of going to a private normal driving school. I got screwed basically.

Keks, it's about the same. I'm trying to cut back my calorie intake since I'm obviously not getting any exercise hauling vans. I've cut soda out almost entirely, been eating more in the truck and smaller/healthier items when I do eat at a truck stop. Stopped getting Cinnabon (although that was rare because I knew all along they were god-awful for you). Thinking of picking up some small weights and doing simple exercises before bed.

Lately my average weeh has been 40-45 hours. But then last week was just a pain in the ass (hence the $1200+ check). When stuff goes smooth, the days go by quick. It's all about attitude tho, if you are in a bad mood all day and arguing with customers, the day will drag ass.

But I always say 10hrs doing this goes by faster than 6hrs at a desk or behind a counter. I'm moving around all day, going different places and seeing different people.

It could be, but this is Florida and you see some crazy cars that aren't sold in the US because of how the titles and tags are done by private agencies here. If it is just a Chevy SS, they went all out with Holden wheels and big Brembo brakes and all sorts of shit.
>>
>>17054603
That's pretty fucking cool though, I'd love to import a TVR. Anyway, the Chevy SS came with Brembos and he could easily swap the wheel center caps. But who knows, maybe he spent a fortune importing a car that's already in the States.
>>
>>17054280
Ahhh. Thanks
>>
>>17054636
I don't think importing it really is that expensive. I mean considering it's not a cheap car (and that thing is new, not some 2007 model) so what is another $2000 or whatever to jam it in a container on a ship? The reason people don't do it is because you can never get them titled and insured in most of the US. There is a Jalopnik article all about FL and gray market cars. I see GTRs and othet shit from time to time that were never sold in the US and always FL plates:

No idea why he was there in the first place. Only place I can think of where he would make a delivery has a bigger road leading back to civilization. But even then, it's a tiny general store that could be serviced by straight trucks.

>I mean, I know he has crossed a white line, but in what possible way has it impeded traffic?
it was raining at the time and the ground was wet, pretty ballsy given the road conditions and angle of term. braked somewhat but not too aggressively.

>And why the hell is the dashcam cunt glued to the turn lane anyway if he or she doesn't make a turn?
solid white line form where the car was before the truck passed in front of it until the intersection. a lot of people would just cross the solid white line to get in the left turn lane for the intersection after the shopping center, but the state troopers are ~1/4 mile behind there and love to camp the area for violators.

I accepted a job with System today. first ever trucking gig, they got me on a regional route and said my base pay is 45 cents per mile, but it's a sliding scale and this particular route averages 58 cents per mile, 2500-2700 a week. based on the reviews I've found, everything the recruiter told me adds up, so it seems like a decent gig. when I first started talking with them I was told June 5th was the soonest I could get in for orientation but someone backed out of a May 1st opening so I'll be flying out then. anything I need to look out for?

Some are locked by the shipper, smart drivers lock the rest.

Yes, parked and while the truck is in motion.

No. Company policies.

The intense isolation and loneliness that arrives from spending weeks on end living in or close by a 4x6' box. Coupled with the incredibly long distances and going from days to nights to days again while driving busts up a humans circadian rhythm and sense of locale and community.

The constant irritations of inconsiderate drivers, construction zones, ignorant shippers and receivers, unforseen delays that directly have an effect on driver revenue, hostile and predatory police and scale house operators, impossible deadlines and routing by dispatchers, and communities that impose bylaws that are designed to prevent drivers parking anywhere in their boundaries.

Its enough to give a person a constant, long, low, pounding headache that just won't ever cease. The blood, thick, slow, drumming through the veins like a pipeline. Nothing makes it go away, not alcohol, not stimulants, not depressants, or painkillers. The pain slowly becomes the only constant, aside from the truck and the sun beaten road.

Then the anger starts to build. Its small at first, frustration at 4wheelers cutting in and out of traffic like ocean predators through schooling fish. Then a shipper is perfectly okay with leaving drivers on site for several days with no bathrooms or accommodations offered, and the anger gets a little bit bigger. A couple of weeks later, an escort trys to stiff you on the established price for her services, and the blood is like a raging river flooding through a canyon now, and you grab and tear and claw and bite and wrench until all that is left is a pile of meat and blood and guts.

I was commenting on Califuckya's 55mph speed limit on all vehicles with more than 3 axles/towing a trailer.
And, since the speed limit for cars on rural 4-lane interstates is 75mph, everyone in a car drives 85.

Because, y'know, a 30mph difference between the left and right lane is SUPER SAFE™.

I was supposed to be picking up a loaded trailer but the bananas were running late and I was almost out of my 14, like 20 mins left. Plan was I'd go break, they'd call with the trailer number. I passed by the "truck stop" he recommended on the way in and it was overflowing and ghetto as hell, since I was tight on time I decided for the sure thing and came to the big flying J on Carney's Point. Turns out the reefer on that trailer won't turn on. So he offered to send someone over to get my trailer and load it. "You're down the road right?" "No, I went to the flying J" "Why didn't...Why the hell are you over the... We aren't coming over there, driver!" "I underst..." "Why didn't you just go down the road?!" "I was..." "I guess you're getting loaded in the morning driver!" "Okay, what time?" "You can check in at 0800, make sure you tell your company what you did!" click "Lol,okay"

Guess he was having a bad day.

Your trailer is in an equilibrium state, so the upward forces of the hitch, front axle, and rear axle will add up to the weight of the trailer and load. Likewise, the torques from the hitch and axles will equal zero. (See image)

All other things being equal, the axles will load at the ratio of their distances to the centre of gravity.

As well, there will be some influence from the trailer flexing under load, also contributing to a greater load on the front axle.

They used to exist when cab-over-engine tractors were more popular, but as far as I understand it some federal regulatory mumbojumbo either made dromedary boxes unprofitable or illegal on new trucks after 1982. But don't quote me on it, I had to look it up myself. Of course when they repealed the general laws on tractor length later on it would've made sense to allow dromedary boxes again, but appearently they simply forgot to.

Question for you guys. I've had my CDL A since November, been driving OTR since December, I'm in a position to get a local job paying pretty decent, home every night, etc. Would it be a bad idea to switch to local before my one year of experience driving? Or am I way over thinking this

Trains are on a protected limited access route. Much easier to program when there's not as many variables.
Trucks and planes need the decision making of a real flesh and blood operator due to too many variables. There's no way to program a truck for mass traffic or odd spaces.

>>17065480
It's because that configuration is a bitch to back. Plus there's not much you could do with that and not do with a 53' box other than split hazmat loads.

>>
>>17066689

The lady in pic related seemed normal, but she was driving a van and not much to look at.

I haven't met many women drivers. We had two girls hired as bay truck drivers and neither of them lasted long. One of them was kinda cute, some black chick.

The other one was a black chick who used to be a black dude I think (like seriously she fugly and somebody mentioned some shit like that and idk the whole story). I really hope it's not true because she/he got hired for that vending route and somehow it's CDL wasn't valid at the time (probably because it takes the DMV a bit to change "male" to "female") so they would have somebody else drive for her for the first month or so. Anyway I happened to be driving her the day that Bruce turned to Caitlyn and they were talking about it on the radio while we were driving to the first stop in the morning and I went on a rant about how fucked up it was and then a few weeks later my boss made a comment that makes me think "she" was a "he" up until recently.

I still think that cougar who team drove with her husband was my favorite grill driver.
>>
>>17066300
How do you do that on a Cat scale?
>>
>>17068727
Tell the cashier you want split weights. Some of them are 4 plate scales so you can line it up like that, but on a 3 plate you'll have to stop with the rear axle off the scale, weigh that and the tractor, then pull up so the last axle is the only one on the rear plate.
