Having a hard time finding a car I'm confident buying. Ive been stuck in rut financially lately so I'm sure that discourages me making a larger purchase. I'm not a mechanic but have done as much research as possible. I know my budget is low at $1500 but trying to get the most reliable and low maintenance for the money. I know, usually at this price makes doesn't matter but I'd still like some help. Here's the two closest craigslist since I'm in a rural area

honda civic
look yourself
Advice thread?
Going to look at a 2003 Grand marquis ls with 120,000 miles.
Also going to look at a 2007 Mazda 6 the same day with 140,000 miles.
Which do I buy?
I like the overall look and feel of the Mazda better, but it does have more miles. I just can't get the thought out of my head that the grand marquis is a black mans car.

I wouldve bought one before making this thread, but I won't for 2 reasons. I don't have any experience driving stick and I'm also 6'5. Automatic civics is basically a crapshoot

>a black mans car
Not at all, so long as it is completely factory stock.

Test drive them and see which one you like more, I would go for the Mazda since you'd get better mileage and don't really need a tank.
Saturn Ion or Dodge Neon.
Ion better value since it shares parts with a few other gm cars. Don't get CVT. Regular automatic is alright.
Also consider manual Cobalt or Pontiac G5. The later years get 170hp in the 2.4 ecotec. First years 150 but that's not too bad for $1500...

Yeah I heard good things about Saturn if you don't want to buy a Toyota with rice tax. There's a L series I saw on there. Haven't heard too much about neons
If you only have $1500 you're going to have a bad time with the actual cost involved with driving, let alone when shit starts breaking immediately.

No, once I get the car I'll be able to get a job, so when things start to break I can get it repaired. Might get a newer car when my credit gets better
